سورة المرسلات - Al-Mursalāt

آية: 1

وَٱلۡمُرۡسَلَٰتِ عُرۡفٗا

1. By the winds sent forth one after another,

آية: 2

فَٱلۡعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصۡفٗا

2. And by the winds that blow violently,

آية: 3

وَٱلنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشۡرٗا

3. And by the winds that spread (rainclouds) far and wide,

آية: 4

فَٱلۡفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرۡقٗا

4. And by the angels who bring Criterion (that separate right from wrong),

آية: 5

فَٱلۡمُلۡقِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا

5. Then by those angels who bring down revelation (to prophets),

آية: 6

عُذۡرًا أَوۡ نُذۡرًا

6. To excuse¹ or to warn.

1. The believers and to cut off all excuses from the deniers.

آية: 7

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٞ

7. Indeed, what you are promised must come to pass.

آية: 8

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتۡ

8. When the stars are obliterated,

آية: 9

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتۡ

9. And the heaven is cleft asunder,

آية: 10

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡ

10. And the mountains are blown away as dust,

آية: 11

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتۡ

11. And the messengers of God are summoned.

آية: 12

لِأَيِّ يَوۡمٍ أُجِّلَتۡ

12. For what Day is it postponed?

آية: 13

لِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ

13. For the Day of Judgment!

آية: 14

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ

14. And what will make you know what the Day of Judgment is?

آية: 15

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

15. Woe² on that Day to the deniers.

2. i.e., death and destruction

آية: 16

أَلَمۡ نُهۡلِكِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

16. Did We not destroy the former (sinful) generations?

آية: 17

ثُمَّ نُتۡبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ

17. Then We will follow them the later ones (their kinds into destruction).

آية: 18

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ

18. Thus do We deal with the wicked.

آية: 19

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

19. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 20

أَلَمۡ نَخۡلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ

20. Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid?

آية: 21

فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٍ

21. And place it in a secure place (the womb),

آية: 22

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ

22. Until an appointed term,

آية: 23

فَقَدَرۡنَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡقَٰدِرُونَ

23. Thus did We determine, and excellent (are We) to determine.

آية: 24

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

24. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 25

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا

25. Have We not made the earth to hold within itself (all of you),

آية: 26

أَحۡيَآءٗ وَأَمۡوَٰتٗا

26. The living and the dead,

آية: 27

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتٖ وَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُم مَّآءٗ فُرَاتٗا

27. And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink fresh water?

آية: 28

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

28. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 29

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

29. (They will be told): "Proceed to that Fire which you used to deny.

آية: 30

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ظِلّٖ ذِي ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٖ

30. Proceed to a shadow (of smoke) having three columns,"

آية: 31

لَّا ظَلِيلٖ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ

31. Neither having the coolness of shade nor availing against the flames.

آية: 32

إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِي بِشَرَرٖ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ

32. It throws up sparks as big as a fortress,

آية: 33

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٞ صُفۡرٞ

33. As yellowish (black) camels.

آية: 34

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

34. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 35

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ

35. This is a Day they will not speak,

آية: 36

وَلَا يُؤۡذَنُ لَهُمۡ فَيَعۡتَذِرُونَ

36. Nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses.

آية: 37

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

37. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 38

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِۖ جَمَعۡنَٰكُمۡ وَٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

38. (They will be told): "This is the Day of Judgment. We have gathered you and those before you (in one plain ground)."

آية: 39

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ كَيۡدٞ فَكِيدُونِ

39. If you have any plots, plot against Me (Allah - which you will never be able to do).

آية: 40

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

40. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 41

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَٰلٖ وَعُيُونٖ

41. The pious ones will be among shades and fountains,

آية: 42

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ

42. And fruits such as they desire.

آية: 43

كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

43. (They will be told): "Eat and drink pleasantly for what you used to do (of righteousness)."

آية: 44

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ

44. Thus do We reward the doers of good.

آية: 45

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

45. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 46

كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجۡرِمُونَ

46. (O you unbelievers): Eat and enjoy yourselves for a little; you are guilty.

آية: 47

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

47. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 48

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرۡكَعُواْ لَا يَرۡكَعُونَ

48. When they are told: "Submit (to Allah, and keep up the prayer), they do not submit and bow down (to pray)."

آية: 49

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

49. Woe on that Day to the deniers.

آية: 50

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۭ بَعۡدَهُۥ يُؤۡمِنُونَ

50. In what statement then, after this (Qur’an), will they believe³?

3. I believe in Allah and in His messenger Muhammad and what He sent down of Books such as the Torah, the Evangel, and the Qur'an - God's Last Message.
