Translation of the meanings Surah: At-Teen
Ayah:
 

At-Teen

Purposes of the Surah:
امتنان الله على الإنسان باستقامة فطرته وخلقته، وكمال الرسالة الخاتمة.
Emphasis on the value of the human and his nobility due to his religion, as opposed to his lowliness and disgrace without it. That is why Allah takes an oath on the places revelation was revealed.

وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيۡتُونِ
1. Allah takes an oath on the fig and the place it grows, and the olive and the place it grows: the land of Palestine where Jesus (peace be upon him) was sent as a Messenger.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَطُورِ سِينِينَ
2. And He takes an oath on Mount Sinai, near where Allah conversed intimately with Moses (peace be upon him).

وَهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ ٱلۡأَمِينِ
3. And He takes an oath on Makkah, the sacred city which gives sanctuary to whoever enters it, and in which Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent as a Messenger.

لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِيٓ أَحۡسَنِ تَقۡوِيمٖ
4. Verily, I have created the human in the most balanced of ways and the best appearance.

ثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَٰهُ أَسۡفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ
5. Then I return him to old age and childishness in the world, so he cannot benefit fully from his body, when he ruins his nature and goes towards the hellfire.

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونٖ
6. Except for those who have faith in Allah and do good deeds, because they, despite growing old, will get an everlasting reward i.e. Paradise, because they kept their nature pure.

فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعۡدُ بِٱلدِّينِ
7. So O human! What causes you to reject the Day of Requital, after you have seen the many signs of His power?
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحۡكَمِ ٱلۡحَٰكِمِينَ
8. Is Allah not the most just and fair of judges by having appointed the Day of Judgement for requital? Is it comprehendible that Allah leaves His servants in vain, without judging between them, by not requiting the doer of good for his good, and the evil-doer for his evil?

• إكرام الله تعالى نبيه صلى الله عليه وسلم بأن رفع له ذكره.
1. The pleasure of Allah is the loftiest of objectives.

• رضا الله هو المقصد الأسمى.
2. The importance of reading and writing has been emphasised in Islam.

• أهمية القراءة والكتابة في الإسلام.
3. Wealth is dangerous if it leads to arrogance and distances one from the truth.

• خطر الغنى إذا جرّ إلى الكبر والبُعد عن الحق.
4. Prohibiting good is one of the traits of disbelief.

• النهي عن المعروف صفة من صفات الكفر.
