AL-FIL

Ayah: 1

أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ
1. Oare n‑ai văzut tu(2) ce a făcut Domnul tău cu oamenii elefantului?!(3)
(2) O, Muhammed! (3) Referire la expediţia etiopiană condusă de Abraha, care a voit să distrugă sanctuarul Al‑Ka’aba. Dar elefantul uriaş care mergea în fruntea oştii a refuzat să intre în Mekka şi păsările trimise în stoluri au aruncat cu pietre de lut ars asupra oastei, distrugând‑o în întregime.

أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلٖ
2. Oare nu a făcut El vicleşugul lor să fie în deşert(4)?!
(4) Nu l‑a zădărnicit.

وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ
3. Şi a trimis peste ei păsări în stoluri,

تَرۡمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٖ مِّن سِجِّيلٖ
4. Ca să arunce asupra lor cu pietre din lut ars!

5. Şi i‑a făcut pe ei ca un ogor mâncat.
