[885] Cuando el hombre muere entra en un mundo conocido como barzaj hasta el Día de la Resurrección, independientemente de si ha sido enterrado en una tumba o no. Este mundo intermedio, que representa la primera parada del Más Allá, según un dicho del Profeta —que Al-lah lo bendiga y le dé la paz—, no es plácido para todos, pues las almas de los futuros habitantes del infierno son atormentadas durante ese tiempo con la visión del fuego que les espera tras el Juicio Final; mientras que los creyentes que obraron con rectitud pueden contemplar su futura morada en el paraíso, entre otras cosas.
