Ayah: 4

لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِي كَبَدٍ
নিঃসন্দেহে আমরা মানুষকে সৃষ্টি করেছি কষ্ট-ক্লেশের মধ্যে [১]।
[১] এখানে পূর্ববর্তী শপথসমূহের জওয়াবে বলা হয়েছে যে,

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ فِى كَبَدٍ

আয়াতে বর্ণিত كبد এর শাব্দিক অর্থ শ্রম ও কষ্ট। অর্থাৎ মানুষ সৃষ্টিগতভাবে আজীবন শ্রম ও কষ্টের মধ্যে থাকে। [ইবন কাসীর; ফাতহুল কাদীর]
