Ayah: 184

وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
184 Craignez Celui qui vous a créés, vous et les générations passées. »

Ayah: 185

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَ
185 Ils répondirent : « Tu as simplement perdu l’esprit, victime d’un sorcier.

Ayah: 186

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
186 Tu n’es qu’un être humain comme nous. Nous ne voyons en toi qu’un imposteur.

Ayah: 187

فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
187 Fais donc tomber le ciel sur nous par pans entiers, si tu dis la vérité ! »

Ayah: 188

قَالَ رَبِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ
188 Il dit : « Mon Seigneur connaît parfaitement vos agissements. »

Ayah: 189

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٍ
189 Pour l’avoir traité d’imposteur, ils furent saisis par le châtiment du jour de la Nuée[978], châtiment d’un jour terrifiant.
[978] Un nuage qui éclata en mille éclairs, provoquant leur anéantissement, selon certains exégètes.

Ayah: 190

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
190 Voilà assurément un enseignement, mais la plupart d’entre eux ne sont pas croyants.

Ayah: 191

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
191 Ton Seigneur, en vérité, est le Tout-Puissant, le Très Miséricordieux.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
192 Le Coran est une révélation du Seigneur de la Création

نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلۡأَمِينُ
193 que l’Esprit fidèle[979] a fait descendre

عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَ
194 dans ton cœur afin que tu sois de ceux qui avertissent l’humanité.

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيّٖ مُّبِينٖ
195 Révélé en langue arabe d’une parfaite clarté,

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِي زُبُرِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
196 il a été annoncé par les Ecritures qui l’ont précédé.

أَوَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُمۡ ءَايَةً أَن يَعۡلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَٰٓؤُاْ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
197 N’est-ce pas pour eux une preuve suffisante que les docteurs de la loi en soient informés ?

وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضِ ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِينَ
198 Si Nous l’avions révélé à un homme ne parlant pas l’arabe

Ayah: 199

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيۡهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِينَ
199 et que celui-ci l’eût récité devant eux[980], ils auraient mis en doute son authenticité.
[980] Dans sa propre langue.

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكۡنَٰهُ فِي قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
200 C’est ainsi que Nous avons fait pénétrer dans le cœur des criminels l’impiété.

Ayah: 201

لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
201 Ils ne croiront pas au Coran tant qu’ils ne verront pas le douloureux châtiment

Ayah: 202

فَيَأۡتِيَهُم بَغۡتَةٗ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ
202 les saisir soudainement sans qu’ils ne s’y attendent.

فَيَقُولُواْ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَ
203 Ils s’écriront alors : « Un sursis peut-il nous être accordé ? »

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
204 Est-ce Notre châtiment qu’ils cherchent aujourd’hui à hâter ?

أَفَرَءَيۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ سِنِينَ
205 Si Nous les laissons jouir de la vie encore quelques années,

ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُوعَدُونَ
206 avant que ne les emporte le châtiment dont ils sont menacés,
