فَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوتُ بِٱلۡجُنُودِ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُبۡتَلِيكُم بِنَهَرٖ فَمَن شَرِبَ مِنۡهُ فَلَيۡسَ مِنِّي وَمَن لَّمۡ يَطۡعَمۡهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنِّيٓ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱغۡتَرَفَ غُرۡفَةَۢ بِيَدِهِۦۚ فَشَرِبُواْ مِنۡهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا مِّنۡهُمۡۚ فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُۥ هُوَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ قَالُواْ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا ٱلۡيَوۡمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَٰقُواْ ٱللَّهِ كَم مِّن فِئَةٖ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتۡ فِئَةٗ كَثِيرَةَۢ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
E quando Tālūt partì con le sue truppe, disse: «In verità Allāh vi metterà alla prova con un fiume: chi vi berrà non sarà dei miei, ma chi non ne berrà è dei miei, tranne chi ne prenderà dal palmo della mano”. Bevvero tutti, tranne pochi di loro. Così, quando lui superò il fiume con quelli che gli avevano creduto, dissero: «Oggi non siamo in grado di affrontare Jēlūt e le sue truppe!» Dissero quelli che credevano di incontrare Allāh: «Quanti piccoli gruppi hanno vinto un gruppo numerosissimo, col volere Allāh?» E Allāh è con i pazienti.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَلَمَّا بَرَزُواْ لِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَفۡرِغۡ عَلَيۡنَا صَبۡرٗا وَثَبِّتۡ أَقۡدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
E quando affrontarono Jēlūt e le sue truppe, dissero: «Dio nostro, dacci la resistenza, rinsalda i nostri piedi, e imponici al popolo miscredente!»

فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُلۡكَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا يَشَآءُۗ وَلَوۡلَا دَفۡعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعۡضَهُم بِبَعۡضٖ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
E li vinsero col volere di Allāh. E Dāwūd uccise Jēlūt e Allāh gli diede il Regno e la Saggezza e gli insegnò quello che voleva. E se Allāh non respingesse gli uomini gli uni con gli altri, la Terra sarebbe corrotta. Ma Allāh è pieno di grazia per il creato.
