Al-Fil

Ayah: 1

أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ
¿Acaso no has reparado en lo que Al-lah hizo con la gente del elefante[1187]?
[1187] Este episodio tuvo lugar el año en que nació el profeta Muhammad —que Al-lah lo bendiga y le dé la paz—. El entonces rey de Yemen, llamado Abraha, planeó destruir la Kaaba con un ejército montado sobre elefantes, para que la gente fuera a su país y no a La Meca para realizar la peregrinación. Un elefante, el mayor de todos, iba al frente de la expedición. Cuando se acercaron a la Kaaba el elefante se detuvo y se sentó, negándose a continuar. Entonces Al-lah castigó al ejército de los idólatras arrasándolos por completo.

أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلٖ
¿Acaso no desbarató sus planes?

وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ
Envió sobre ellos numerosas bandadas de pájaros

تَرۡمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٖ مِّن سِجِّيلٖ
que les arrojaban piedras de barro (cocido).

فَجَعَلَهُمۡ كَعَصۡفٖ مَّأۡكُولِۭ
Y quedaron (destruidos como) si fueran forraje del que se alimentan los animales (y luego pisotean).
