يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ
Hỡi những ai có đức tin! Nhịn chay[35] là lệnh được truyền xuống cho các ngươi như đã được truyền xuống cho những người trước các ngươi để các ngươi (rèn luyện) sự khắc kỷ và trở thành người ngay chính sợ Allah.
[35] Nhịn chay có nghĩa là kiêng cử, hãm mình và được qui định nơi câu 187 ở dưới.
