No existe nada menor: Hasta mediados del siglo XX se creía que las partículas más pequeñas eran los protones y los neutrones que componen el átomo. Más recientemente, sin embargo, partículas aún más pequeñas, de las cuales estas mismas consisten, fueron descubiertas. Una rama especializada de la física, llamada “física de partículas”, desarrolló el estudio de estas “subpartículas” y su comportamiento. Esta investigación ha revelado que los protones y los neutrones que forman los átomos en realidad están conformados por subpartículas llamadas quarks. El tamaño de estos quarks es sorprendente: 1e-18 (0.000000000000000001 de un metro). Otro punto digno de destacar es que estos versículos llaman la atención sobre el peso del átomo. La palabra mizqal مِثْقَال en la expresión traducida como “peso de un átomo” en los versículos anteriores, significa que tienen peso. De hecho, se ha descubierto que los protones, neutrones y electrones que forman los átomos también son compuestos por otros elementos que dan al átomo su peso. Por lo tanto, la afirmación de que el átomo tiene un peso, es otro milagro científico del Corán.
