94. ¡Oh, creyentes!, si salís a combatir por la causa de Al-lah, aseguraos (de la verdad) y no digáis a quien os brinda el saludo de paz del islam[155] que no es creyente para conseguir bienes terrenales (parte del botín si lucháis y vencéis). En verdad, junto a Al-lah hay muchos más beneficios y botines. Vosotros también fuisteis incrédulos como ellos con anterioridad, pero Al-lah os agració (con la fe); así que cercioraos (antes de combatir contra un creyente). Ciertamente, Al-lah está bien informado de lo que hacéis.
[155] El saludo de paz del islam es assalaam ‘alaikum, que literalmente significa «la paz esté con vosotros». De hecho, la palabra islam proviene de la misma raíz que salaam (paz), y significa «el sometimiento a la voluntad de Al-lah», el cual es indispensable para alcanzar la paz tanto externa como interna.
