204. Among men is he whose speech may please you in this worldly life, and he calls on Allāh to witness what is in his heart, yet he is the most quarrelsome opponent79.
79. Muhammad, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the most beloved statement to Allāh is for a servant to say, ‘Glory be to You, O Allāh, and Your praises. Blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no god besides You.’ The most hateful statement to Allāh is for a man to say to another man, ‘Fear Allāh!’ and he replies, ‘Mind yourself!’”
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) also said: “The most hated person in the sight of Allāh is the most quarrelsome person". This is one of the four traits of a sheer hypocrite. The other three being: telling lies, breaking promises and betraying pledges.
