Iblīs asks to live until humanity is resurrected — i.e., until the Day of Judgment. His intention is not repentance, but revenge: to mislead and tempt the offspring of Adam until the end of time.
He did not ask for pardon, nor mercy, but only delay — that he might continue his mission of deceit and temptation against the children of Adam.
This reveals a profound truth: Even one accursed may call upon Allāh, but only repentance earns mercy; arrogance earns only delay, not forgiveness.
Arrogance can speak the language of worship, but without humility it brings only ruin. True faith requires submission, not mere recognition.
