5 : 33

ٱدۡعُوهُمۡ لِأٓبَآئِهِمۡ هُوَ أَقۡسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِن لَّمۡ تَعۡلَمُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ فَإِخۡوَٰنُكُمۡ فِي ٱلدِّينِ وَمَوَٰلِيكُمۡۚ وَلَيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٞ فِيمَآ أَخۡطَأۡتُم بِهِۦ وَلَٰكِن مَّا تَعَمَّدَتۡ قُلُوبُكُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمًا

5. Call them sons of their own fathers. That is more just with Allāh. But if you do not know their fathers (call them) then your brothers in faith and your protégés. And there is no sin on you concerning that in which you made a mistake (unintentionally), but (concerning) that which your hearts do purposely (that is what will amount to a sin for you). Allāh is Ever All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
