ثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَزۡوَٰجٖۖ مِّنَ ٱلضَّأۡنِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِ وَمِنَ ٱلۡمَعۡزِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِۗ قُلۡ ءَآلذَّكَرَيۡنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلۡأُنثَيَيۡنِ أَمَّا ٱشۡتَمَلَتۡ عَلَيۡهِ أَرۡحَامُ ٱلۡأُنثَيَيۡنِۖ نَبِّـُٔونِي بِعِلۡمٍ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

143. [He created] eight in pairs: two of sheep and two of goats [23]. Say, “Has He forbidden the two males, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females contain? Tell me with knowledge, if you are truthful.” info

[23]. The verse refers to four pairs so far (sheep and goats; male and female of each). The pagans claimed certain animals were forbidden to eat depending on their sex or birth — such as saying: “Only males may eat this,”
or “This offspring is sacred for our idols.”
Allāh exposes the falsehood of these invented laws and demands proof.
