قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِينَ
37. [Allāh] said: "Then indeed, you are of the respited [9]."
[9]. Allāh grants Iblīs the delay he asked for, not as mercy, but as part of His decree and wisdom until the appointed time, to complete the test of faith for humankind.
Thus began the era of temptation, struggle, and choice — where truth and falsehood run side by side until the Day of Judgment.
This shows that Allāh may grant requests even from the wicked — not as favor, but to fulfill divine purpose.
It also shows His absolute sovereignty: even Iblīs’s lifespan is by Allah’s permission, not by his own power.
