37. Men, whom neither trade nor selling distracts them from the Remembrance of Allāh, performance of prayer and paying the poor-rate. They fear a Day in which the hearts and eyes will be overturned;
38. That Allāh may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and increase them more out of His bounty. Allāh gives sustenance to whom He wills without limit.
39. The deeds of the unbelievers are like a mirage in a desert, which a thirsty man thinks is water; until when he comes to it he finds nothing. Instead, He finds Allāh there 'in the Hereafter' who gives him his due recompense. For Allāh is Swift in Reckoning.
40. Or it (the deeds of the unbelievers) are like the darkness of a deep, stormy sea with layers of big waves, covered by 'dark' clouds. It is darkness upon darkness; whereby if one stretches out his hand he can hardly see it. The one to whom Allāh does not give light 'of guidance', for him there is no light21.
21. Some of the supplications of the Prophet Muhammad were: "O Allāh, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, make light for me." He asked that light be engulfing his organs and all his sides, which is translated into clarification and illumination of the truth and guidance to it. Therefore, he asked for light in all parts of his body as well as his behaviors, life changes, situations, and entirety from the six directions so that he will never be misguided in any way.
41. Do you not see that Allāh is glorified by whoever is in the heavens and the earth, and the birds with outspread wings? He knows everyone's prayers and praising. For Allāh has absolute knowledge of all what they do.
43. Do you not see that Allāh drives the clouds gently, brings them together, piles them up, then you see the rain coming forth from their midst? He sends down from the sky, mountains 'of clouds' wherein is hailstones, striking therewith whom He wills and turning it away from whom He wills. The flash of His lightning almost takes away the eyesight.
