Al-Infitār

Ayet: 1

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتۡ

1. When the sky is cleft asunder.

Ayet: 2

وَإِذَا ٱلۡكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتۡ

2. And the stars are dispersed,

Ayet: 3

وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتۡ

3. And the seas burst forth,

Ayet: 4

وَإِذَا ٱلۡقُبُورُ بُعۡثِرَتۡ

4. And the graves spill out 'its contents',

Ayet: 5

عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَأَخَّرَتۡ

5. Every soul will 'then' know what it has sent forth and what it has left behind¹.

1. of good or bad deeds

Ayet: 6

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡكَرِيمِ

6. O man, what has distracted you from 'Allāh' your Lord, the Most Generous;

Ayet: 7

ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ

7. Who created you, proportioned you, then balanced you?

Ayet: 8

فِيٓ أَيِّ صُورَةٖ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ

8. In whatever shape He willed, He assembled you.

Ayet: 9

كَلَّا بَلۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ

9. No, But you deny the 'Judgement and' Recompense.

Ayet: 10

وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَحَٰفِظِينَ

10. While there are 'angelic' guardians 'watching' over you;

Ayet: 11

كِرَامٗا كَٰتِبِينَ

11. Honorable scribes,

Ayet: 12

يَعۡلَمُونَ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ

12. Who know (and record) all that you do.

Ayet: 13

إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٖ

13. The virtuous will be in Bliss,

Ayet: 14

وَإِنَّ ٱلۡفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٖ

14. And the wicked will be in blazing Fire,

Ayet: 15

يَصۡلَوۡنَهَا يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ

15. They will burn in it on the Day of (Judgement and) Recompense;

Ayet: 16

وَمَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ

16. And never therefrom will they be absent.

Ayet: 17

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ

17. What will make you realize what the Day of (Judgement and) Recompense is?

Ayet: 18

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ

18. Again, what will make you realize what tthe Day of Recompense is?

Ayet: 19

يَوۡمَ لَا تَمۡلِكُ نَفۡسٞ لِّنَفۡسٖ شَيۡـٔٗاۖ وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلَّهِ

19. 'It is' the Day when no soul will have power to do anything for (another) soul. The Decision on that Day is for Allāh alone.
