An-Naml

1 : 27

طسٓۚ تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ وَكِتَابٖ مُّبِينٍ

1. Ta Seen ^[1]. These are the Verses of the Qur’an and a clear Book ^[2].

[1]. See footnote to Qur’an chapter2: Verse1.
[2]. Both the Book and the verses of the Qur’an mentioned here refer to one and the same thing, the Qur’an itself; the Book that was to be and then present recited Verses. Its double mention, as given here, is meant to draw special attention to the evidences it provides to the Truthfulness of the Message.

2 : 27

هُدٗى وَبُشۡرَىٰ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

2. A guidance and good news for the believers,

3 : 27

ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمۡ يُوقِنُونَ

3. Who keep up the prayer and pay the poor-rate, and are certain of the Hereafter.

4 : 27

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ

4. Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made fair-seeming to them their deeds, so they wander about blindly.

5 : 27

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ وَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلۡأَخۡسَرُونَ

5. These are they for whom is the worst kind of torment, and in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers.

6 : 27

وَإِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ مِن لَّدُنۡ حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍ

6. And you (Muhammad) are surely receiving the Qur’an from (Allāh) the All-Wise, All-Knowing.

7 : 27

إِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَهۡلِهِۦٓ إِنِّيٓ ءَانَسۡتُ نَارٗا سَـَٔاتِيكُم مِّنۡهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوۡ ءَاتِيكُم بِشِهَابٖ قَبَسٖ لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَصۡطَلُونَ

7. (Mention) when Moses said to his family ^[3], I have spotted a fire; I will bring you from it some news, or I will bring you therefrom a burning torch that you may warm yourselves".

[3]. I.e., his wife, during his journey from Midian back to Egypt.

8 : 27

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُودِيَ أَنۢ بُورِكَ مَن فِي ٱلنَّارِ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهَا وَسُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

8. But When he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is who is at the fire, and whoever is around it; and Glory be to Allāh, the Lord of the worlds.

9 : 27

يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

9. O Moses, indeed it is Me - Allāh; the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

10 : 27

وَأَلۡقِ عَصَاكَۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهۡتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنّٞ وَلَّىٰ مُدۡبِرٗا وَلَمۡ يُعَقِّبۡۚ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفۡ إِنِّي لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

10. And, cast down your staff." But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned back in retreat, and did not return. (Allāh said), "Moses, fear not! Indeed, as for Me; the messengers should have no fear in My Presence."

11 : 27

إِلَّا مَن ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسۡنَۢا بَعۡدَ سُوٓءٖ فَإِنِّي غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ

11. Except, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil (by sincere repentance) - Indeed, I am Forgiving, Merciful:

12 : 27

وَأَدۡخِلۡ يَدَكَ فِي جَيۡبِكَ تَخۡرُجۡ بَيۡضَآءَ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ سُوٓءٖۖ فِي تِسۡعِ ءَايَٰتٍ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَقَوۡمِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا فَٰسِقِينَ

12. And put your hand into your bosom (of your robe) , it will come out (shining) white unblemished. (These are two) among nine signs to Pharaoh and his people. They are certainly a people defiantly disobedient. 

13 : 27

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ ءَايَٰتُنَا مُبۡصِرَةٗ قَالُواْ هَٰذَا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ

13. So when Our visible signs came to them, they said: "This is clear magic."

14 : 27

وَجَحَدُواْ بِهَا وَٱسۡتَيۡقَنَتۡهَآ أَنفُسُهُمۡ ظُلۡمٗا وَعُلُوّٗاۚ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ

14. And they denied them (Allah’s signs) out of injustice and exaltation while there selves were convinced of them. So consider how was the end of the corrupters?

15 : 27

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيۡمَٰنَ عِلۡمٗاۖ وَقَالَا ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّنۡ عِبَادِهِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

15. We have certainly gave knowledge to David and Solomon. They said: "All Praise be to Allāh, Who has favoured us over many of His believing servants."

16 : 27

وَوَرِثَ سُلَيۡمَٰنُ دَاوُۥدَۖ وَقَالَ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ عُلِّمۡنَا مَنطِقَ ٱلطَّيۡرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٍۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَضۡلُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ

16. And Solomon inherited (the knowledge of) David. And he said: "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given (a share) of every thing. This is certainly the manifest bounty."

17 : 27

وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيۡمَٰنَ جُنُودُهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ وَٱلطَّيۡرِ فَهُمۡ يُوزَعُونَ

17. And there were gathered together for Solomon his hosts of the jinn, men, and birds, and they were marching (in rows).

18 : 27

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَوۡاْ عَلَىٰ وَادِ ٱلنَّمۡلِ قَالَتۡ نَمۡلَةٞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّمۡلُ ٱدۡخُلُواْ مَسَٰكِنَكُمۡ لَا يَحۡطِمَنَّكُمۡ سُلَيۡمَٰنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ

18. Until when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said: "Ants, enter your dwellings, that Solomon and his army may not crush you while they do not perceive it."

19 : 27

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكٗا مِّن قَوۡلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوۡزِعۡنِيٓ أَنۡ أَشۡكُرَ نِعۡمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِيٓ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَيَّ وَأَنۡ أَعۡمَلَ صَٰلِحٗا تَرۡضَىٰهُ وَأَدۡخِلۡنِي بِرَحۡمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

19. So he smiled ^[4] laughing at her statement, and said: "Lord, inspire me so that I may be 'always' grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteousness such as You are Pleased with, and admit me by Your mercy into the ranks of Your righteous servants."

[4]. Learn to smile. See the humor in life and laugh with joy. The Prophet Muhammad helped the needy, the poor and went to the houses of the sick to enquire after their health and whenever he met or passed by anyone he said “Assalamu Alaikum - peace be with you” with a smile upon his face. He said: "Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity, commanding good and forbidding evil is charity, your giving directions to a man lost in the land is charity for you."

20 : 27

وَتَفَقَّدَ ٱلطَّيۡرَ فَقَالَ مَالِيَ لَآ أَرَى ٱلۡهُدۡهُدَ أَمۡ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَآئِبِينَ

20. And (Solomon) inspected the birds, and said: "How is it I see not the hoopoe - or is he among the absent?"

21 : 27

لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُۥ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدًا أَوۡ لَأَاْذۡبَحَنَّهُۥٓ أَوۡ لَيَأۡتِيَنِّي بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖ

21. I will surely chastise him with a severe chastisement, or slaughter him, or he will bring to me a clear authoritarian (for his absence).

22 : 27

فَمَكَثَ غَيۡرَ بَعِيدٖ فَقَالَ أَحَطتُ بِمَا لَمۡ تُحِطۡ بِهِۦ وَجِئۡتُكَ مِن سَبَإِۭ بِنَبَإٖ يَقِينٍ

22. But (the hoopoe) tarried but a short while; and (when it came) it said: "I have encompassed that which you have not encompassed thereby, and have brought to you from Sheba with sure news.

23 : 27

إِنِّي وَجَدتُّ ٱمۡرَأَةٗ تَمۡلِكُهُمۡ وَأُوتِيَتۡ مِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ وَلَهَا عَرۡشٌ عَظِيمٞ

23. Indeed, I found a woman ruling over them ^[5], and she has been given (a share) of every thing and she has a great throne.

24 : 27

وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوۡمَهَا يَسۡجُدُونَ لِلشَّمۡسِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَصَدَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ فَهُمۡ لَا يَهۡتَدُونَ

24. I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allāh. And Satan has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and averted them from the (right) Way (of Islam), so they are not guided,

25 : 27

أَلَّاۤ يَسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي يُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡخَبۡءَ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تُخۡفُونَ وَمَا تُعۡلِنُونَ

25. So that they do not prostrate to Allāh ^[6]; Who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows whatever you conceal or reveal.

[6]. And rightfully direct their worship to Him alone.

26 : 27

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ۩

26. Allāh, there is no god 'worthy of worship' except Him, Lord of the Great Throne.

27 : 27

۞ قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقۡتَ أَمۡ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ

27. (Solomon) said: "We shall see whether you are telling the truth or you are of the liars.

28 : 27

ٱذۡهَب بِّكِتَٰبِي هَٰذَا فَأَلۡقِهۡ إِلَيۡهِمۡ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا يَرۡجِعُونَ

28. Go with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them, then turn away from them and see what (answer) they return."

29 : 27

قَالَتۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ إِنِّيٓ أُلۡقِيَ إِلَيَّ كِتَٰبٞ كَرِيمٌ

29. (The Queen) ^[7] said: "O eminent ones, indeed, I, there haas been cast to me a noble letter.

[7]. When she had read Solomon’s letter.

30 : 27

إِنَّهُۥ مِن سُلَيۡمَٰنَ وَإِنَّهُۥ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

30. Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed it is, "In the Name of Allāh, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful;

31 : 27

أَلَّا تَعۡلُواْ عَلَيَّ وَأۡتُونِي مُسۡلِمِينَ

31. That you not exalt yourselves against me, but come to me in submission (as Muslims) ^[8]."

[8]. As true believers who submit to God with willful submission.

32 : 27

قَالَتۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ أَفۡتُونِي فِيٓ أَمۡرِي مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمۡرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشۡهَدُونِ

32. She said: "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair - I would not decide a matter until you witness (the session)."

33 : 27

قَالُواْ نَحۡنُ أُوْلُواْ قُوَّةٖ وَأُوْلُواْ بَأۡسٖ شَدِيدٖ وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ إِلَيۡكِ فَٱنظُرِي مَاذَا تَأۡمُرِينَ

33. They said: "We are possessors of strength and possessors of fierce fight, and the command is yours, so look what you command."

34 : 27

قَالَتۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُواْ قَرۡيَةً أَفۡسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوٓاْ أَعِزَّةَ أَهۡلِهَآ أَذِلَّةٗۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَفۡعَلُونَ

34. She said: "Indeed, the kings when they enter a town, they ravage it and make the mighty of its people low, and thus they (always) do.

35 : 27

وَإِنِّي مُرۡسِلَةٌ إِلَيۡهِم بِهَدِيَّةٖ فَنَاظِرَةُۢ بِمَ يَرۡجِعُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

35. And surely I am sending to them with a present, and see with what (answer) the envoys will return."

36 : 27

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيۡمَٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٖ فَمَآ ءَاتَىٰنِۦَ ٱللَّهُ خَيۡرٞ مِّمَّآ ءَاتَىٰكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمۡ تَفۡرَحُونَ

36.So when (the envoy) came to Solomon, he said: "Do you supply me with wealth? But what Allāh has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, you in your gift you rejoice.

37 : 27

ٱرۡجِعۡ إِلَيۡهِمۡ فَلَنَأۡتِيَنَّهُم بِجُنُودٖ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا وَلَنُخۡرِجَنَّهُم مِّنۡهَآ أَذِلَّةٗ وَهُمۡ صَٰغِرُونَ

37. Return to them, so we will surely come to them with hosts that they will be powerless to encounter, and we shall expel them therefrom in disgrace, and they will be fully abased.

38 : 27

قَالَ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ أَيُّكُمۡ يَأۡتِينِي بِعَرۡشِهَا قَبۡلَ أَن يَأۡتُونِي مُسۡلِمِينَ

38. He said: "O eminent ones, which of you can bring to me her throne before they come to me submissively."

39 : 27

قَالَ عِفۡرِيتٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ أَنَا۠ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبۡلَ أَن تَقُومَ مِن مَّقَامِكَۖ وَإِنِّي عَلَيۡهِ لَقَوِيٌّ أَمِينٞ

39. A Ifrit (strong one) of the jinn said: "I will bring it to you before you rise up from your place. And surely I am strong, trustworthy for it."

40 : 27

قَالَ ٱلَّذِي عِندَهُۥ عِلۡمٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ أَنَا۠ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبۡلَ أَن يَرۡتَدَّ إِلَيۡكَ طَرۡفُكَۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهُ مُسۡتَقِرًّا عِندَهُۥ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِن فَضۡلِ رَبِّي لِيَبۡلُوَنِيٓ ءَأَشۡكُرُ أَمۡ أَكۡفُرُۖ وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشۡكُرُ لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّي غَنِيّٞ كَرِيمٞ

40. One who had the knowledge of the Scripture said: "I will bring it to you before your glance returns on you." (i.e., in the twinkling of an eye). When 'Solomon' saw it settled beside him, he said: "This is of the favor of 'Allāh' my Lord that He may try me whether I am grateful or ungrateful; and whoever is grateful, he is grateful only for himself, and whoever is ungrateful - then my Lord (Allāh) is Rich (free of all needs), Honored.

41 : 27

قَالَ نَكِّرُواْ لَهَا عَرۡشَهَا نَنظُرۡ أَتَهۡتَدِيٓ أَمۡ تَكُونُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَهۡتَدُونَ

41. (Solomon) said: "Disguise for her, her throne, that we may see whether she is guided (to recognise it), or she is of the ones who are not guided."

42 : 27

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡ قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرۡشُكِۖ قَالَتۡ كَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَۚ وَأُوتِينَا ٱلۡعِلۡمَ مِن قَبۡلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسۡلِمِينَ

42. When she came, it was said, "Is your throne like this?" She said: "It seems that this is it." (Solomon said): "And we were given knowledge before her, and we were Muslims (submitting to God's will).

43 : 27

وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعۡبُدُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهَا كَانَتۡ مِن قَوۡمٖ كَٰفِرِينَ

43. And she was averted by what she used to worship instead of Allāh, indeed she was from a disbelieving people.

44 : 27

قِيلَ لَهَا ٱدۡخُلِي ٱلصَّرۡحَۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَتۡهُ حَسِبَتۡهُ لُجَّةٗ وَكَشَفَتۡ عَن سَاقَيۡهَاۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ صَرۡحٞ مُّمَرَّدٞ مِّن قَوَارِيرَۗ قَالَتۡ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمۡتُ نَفۡسِي وَأَسۡلَمۡتُ مَعَ سُلَيۡمَٰنَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

44. It was said to her: "Enter the palace." When she saw it, she thought it was a wide expanse of water and ( she tucked up her garments) and uncovered her shins. (Solomon) said: "It is a palace (whose floor is) smoothly paved with glass." She said: "Lord, I have been unjust to myself, and I submit myself with Solomon to Allāh, the Lord of the worlds."

45 : 27

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمۡ صَٰلِحًا أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمۡ فَرِيقَانِ يَخۡتَصِمُونَ

45. We had certainly sent to (the people of) Thamud their brother Salih, 'saying': "Worship Allāh alone." And at once they became two parties ^[9] conflicting.

[9]. i.e., believers and unbelievers

46 : 27

قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ لِمَ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبۡلَ ٱلۡحَسَنَةِۖ لَوۡلَا تَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ

46. (Saleh) said: "O my People, why do you hasten the evil before the good? Why do you not ask Forgiveness from Allāh, that you may receive (His) Mercy?"

47 : 27

قَالُواْ ٱطَّيَّرۡنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَۚ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۖ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٞ تُفۡتَنُونَ

47. They said: "We augur bad omen from you and those with you." He said: "Your bad omen is destined by Allāh; rather, you are a people being tested ^[10]."

[10]. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him, said: "Taking omens is polytheism; taking omens is polytheism. He said it three times. Every one of us has some, but Allāh removes it by trust (in Him)."
When taking omens was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, he said: The best type is the good omen, and it does not turn back a Muslim. If one of you sees anything he dislikes, he should say: O Allāh, no one brings good things except You, and no one averts evil things except You, and there is no might and power but in Allāh.

48 : 27

وَكَانَ فِي ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ تِسۡعَةُ رَهۡطٖ يُفۡسِدُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا يُصۡلِحُونَ

48. There were in the city nine (ringleaders of) a clan who spreading corruption in the land, and were not reforming.

49 : 27

قَالُواْ تَقَاسَمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدۡنَا مَهۡلِكَ أَهۡلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ

49. They said: "Take mutual swearing by Allāh that we surely attack him and his family by night, then we shall say to his heir: "We did not witness the perishing of his family, and we are indeed truthful."

50 : 27

وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا وَمَكَرۡنَا مَكۡرٗا وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ

50. And they plotted a plot (against Our messenger), and We planned a plan (against them) while they perceived not.

51 : 27

فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ مَكۡرِهِمۡ أَنَّا دَمَّرۡنَٰهُمۡ وَقَوۡمَهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ

51. See then, how was the outcome of their plot, that We destroyed them and their people - all together.

52 : 27

فَتِلۡكَ بُيُوتُهُمۡ خَاوِيَةَۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓاْۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡلَمُونَ

52. So these are their houses in utter ruin, for their wrongdoing. In this there is, certainly a Sign for the people of the knowledge.

53 : 27

وَأَنجَيۡنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَ

53. And We delivered those who believed and used to fear Allāh (and shun evil).

54 : 27

وَلُوطًا إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمۡ تُبۡصِرُونَ

54. And Lot, when he said to his people: "Do you commit indecency (homosexual acts publicly) while you are seeing?"

55 : 27

أَئِنَّكُمۡ لَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهۡوَةٗ مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٞ تَجۡهَلُونَ

55. Do you approach men with lust rather than women? Rather, you are a people who are ignorant ^[11].

[11]. I.e., ignoring what is required from you of faith and purity, and staying away from the sins.

56 : 27

۞ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓاْ أَخۡرِجُوٓاْ ءَالَ لُوطٖ مِّن قَرۡيَتِكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُمۡ أُنَاسٞ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ

56. The answer of his people was not other than that they said: "Turn out Lot’s family from your town. They are people who keep themselves pure."

57 : 27

فَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَٰهَا مِنَ ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ

57. So We delivered him and his family, except his wife, whom We destined to be among those who lagged behind 'to perish'.

58 : 27

وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّطَرٗاۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ

58. And We rained on them a rain (of stones). Evil was the rain of those who were warned.

59 : 27

قُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصۡطَفَىٰٓۗ ءَآللَّهُ خَيۡرٌ أَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ

59. Say: Praise be to Allāh and peace be upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is not Allāh far better than anything (the idols, false gods, etc.) to which they associate with Him (in worship)?

60 : 27

أَمَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا بِهِۦ حَدَآئِقَ ذَاتَ بَهۡجَةٖ مَّا كَانَ لَكُمۡ أَن تُنۢبِتُواْ شَجَرَهَآۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ يَعۡدِلُونَ

60. Or (Is He not best) Who has created the heavens and the earth, and sends down for you water from the sky; by which We cause to grow thereby beautiful gardens. It is not possible for you to cause its trees to grow thereof. Is there any god besides Allāh? No, but they are a people who ascribe equals (to Him).

61 : 27

أَمَّن جَعَلَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ قَرَارٗا وَجَعَلَ خِلَٰلَهَآ أَنۡهَٰرٗا وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَجَعَلَ بَيۡنَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ حَاجِزًاۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

61. Or Who made the earth a stable ground, and made therein rivers, and placed for it firm mountains and made between the two seas a barrier. Is there any god besides Allāh? No, but most of them do not know.

62 : 27

أَمَّن يُجِيبُ ٱلۡمُضۡطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكۡشِفُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجۡعَلُكُمۡ خُلَفَآءَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ

62. Or Who responds to the distressed when He cries out to Him and removes the hardship, and makes you successors in the earth. Is there any god besides Allāh?Little is it that you take heed.

63 : 27

أَمَّن يَهۡدِيكُمۡ فِي ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَمَن يُرۡسِلُ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ بُشۡرَۢا بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡ رَحۡمَتِهِۦٓۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ تَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ

63. Or Who guides you in the utter darknesses of the land and the sea, and Who sends the winds as good news before His mercy 'the rain'. Is there any god besides Allāh? Exalted be Allāh above what they associate with Him 'in worship'.

64 : 27

أَمَّن يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ وَمَن يَرۡزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ هَاتُواْ بُرۡهَٰنَكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

64. Or Who begins the creation then repeats it, and Who provides your provisions from the heaven and the earth. Is there any god besides Allāh? Say: "Bring your proof, if you are truthful."

65 : 27

قُل لَّا يَعۡلَمُ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡغَيۡبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ وَمَا يَشۡعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبۡعَثُونَ

65. Say: "No one in the heavens or the earth knows the unseen except Allāh; and they not perceive when they will be resurrected."

66 : 27

بَلِ ٱدَّٰرَكَ عِلۡمُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ مِّنۡهَاۖ بَلۡ هُم مِّنۡهَا عَمُونَ

66. Rather, their knowledge does not grasp the Hereafter. Rather they are in doubt about it; rather they are, concerning it, blind.

67 : 27

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَءِذَا كُنَّا تُرَٰبٗا وَءَابَآؤُنَآ أَئِنَّا لَمُخۡرَجُونَ

67. Those who disbelieve (in the Truth) say: "When we and our fathers have become dust, shall we certainly be brought forth (alive out of the graves)?"

68 : 27

لَقَدۡ وُعِدۡنَا هَٰذَا نَحۡنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبۡلُ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

68. We have been promised this, we and our fathers before. This is not except the tales of the former people.

69 : 27

قُلۡ سِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ

69. Say: "Travel throughout the land, then see how was the end of the guilty?"

70 : 27

وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا تَكُن فِي ضَيۡقٖ مِّمَّا يَمۡكُرُونَ

70. Do not grieve for them, nor be distressed because of what they plot.

71 : 27

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

71. They say: "When will this promise (of resurrection) come to pass, if you are truthful?"

72 : 27

قُلۡ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعۡضُ ٱلَّذِي تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ

72. Say: "Perhaps it is close behind you - some of that (torment) which you wish to hasten on."

73 : 27

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ

73. And indeed, your Lord is Bountiful to the people, but most of them are not grateful.

74 : 27

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمۡ وَمَا يُعۡلِنُونَ

74. And your Lord certainly knows whatever their chests conceal and what they reveal.

75 : 27

وَمَا مِنۡ غَآئِبَةٖ فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا فِي كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٍ

75. And there is no an unseen thing in the heaven and the earth except that it is in a clear Register ^[12].

[12]. the Preserved Slate, which is with Allāh.

76 : 27

إِنَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ يَقُصُّ عَلَىٰ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ

76. Indeed, this Qur’an relates to the children of Israel most of what they differ about.

77 : 27

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَهُدٗى وَرَحۡمَةٞ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

77. And It is certainly a guidance and a mercy for the believers.

78 : 27

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقۡضِي بَيۡنَهُم بِحُكۡمِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ

78. Indeed, your Lord (Allāh) will judge between them by His Judgement. For He is the All-Mighty, the All-knowing.

79 : 27

فَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَى ٱلۡحَقِّ ٱلۡمُبِينِ

79. So put your trust in Allāh (alone), you are surely upon the clear Truth.

80 : 27

إِنَّكَ لَا تُسۡمِعُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَلَا تُسۡمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا وَلَّوۡاْ مُدۡبِرِينَ

80. Indeed, you will not make the dead hear (the Truth), nor will you make the deaf to hear the call when they turn their backs retreating.

81 : 27

وَمَآ أَنتَ بِهَٰدِي ٱلۡعُمۡيِ عَن ضَلَٰلَتِهِمۡۖ إِن تُسۡمِعُ إِلَّا مَن يُؤۡمِنُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُم مُّسۡلِمُونَ

81. Nor can you guide the blind out of their error; you can make none to hear (the Truth) except those who believe in Our revelations, and are Muslims ^[13].

[13]. We are all called to be in submission to Allāh 'God' for when we submit to Allāh only will the devil flee from us as we are then committed to Allāh and will be able to withstand the temptations of the devil.

82 : 27

۞ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ أَخۡرَجۡنَا لَهُمۡ دَآبَّةٗ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمۡ أَنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ

82. And when the Word (Decree) is fulfilled against them ^[14], We shall bring forth for them a beast ^[15] from the earth speaking to them 'saying' that the people had no sure faith in Our verses.

[14]. At the approach of the Hour of doom.
[15]. The beast is a great creature which Allāh will cause to emerge when the people become corrupt. It will speak to mankind and exhort them, having the ability to reason and speak. It will make marks on the people’s noses which will distinguish the believers from the disbelievers.
The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: The last hour will not come or happen until there appear ten signs before it: The rising of the sun in its place of setting, the coming forth of the beast, the coming forth of Gog and Magog, the Dajjal (antichrist), (the descent of) Jesus son of Mary, the smoke, and three landslides of the earth: one in the west, one in the east, and one in the Arabian Peninsula. The last of that will be the emergence of a fire from Yemen, from the lowest part of Aden, and drive mankind to their place of assembly."

83 : 27

وَيَوۡمَ نَحۡشُرُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ فَوۡجٗا مِّمَّن يُكَذِّبُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُمۡ يُوزَعُونَ

83. (Warn of) the Day when We shall gather from every nation a party from among those who denied Our revelations, then they will march (to the place of Judgment) in rows.

84 : 27

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُو قَالَ أَكَذَّبۡتُم بِـَٔايَٰتِي وَلَمۡ تُحِيطُواْ بِهَا عِلۡمًا أَمَّاذَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

84. Until when they come (to the place of Judgment, (Allāh) will say: "Did you deny My revelations while you did not comprehend them in knowledge? Or what 'else' was it that you used to do?"

85 : 27

وَوَقَعَ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ عَلَيۡهِم بِمَا ظَلَمُواْ فَهُمۡ لَا يَنطِقُونَ

85. And the Word (Decree) will befall them for their having done wrong, so they will not speak.

86 : 27

أَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّا جَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِيَسۡكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًاۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ

86. Do they not see that We made the night for them to rest in, and the day bright (to seek one’s living)? In this there are certainly signs for a people who believe.

87 : 27

وَيَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَفَزِعَ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَكُلٌّ أَتَوۡهُ دَٰخِرِينَ

87. And (warn) of the Day when the trumpet will be blown, then those who are in the heavens and whoever is on earth will be terrified, except whom Allāh wills (to spare). And all will come to Him fully humbled.

88 : 27

وَتَرَى ٱلۡجِبَالَ تَحۡسَبُهَا جَامِدَةٗ وَهِيَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ ٱلسَّحَابِۚ صُنۡعَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَتۡقَنَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍۚ إِنَّهُۥ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَفۡعَلُونَ

88. And you will see the mountains, thinking to be solid, and it pass away as clouds pass away - 'it is' the work of Allāh ^[16], Who has perfected every thing - Indeed He is All-Aware of what you do.

[16]. Allāh designed his people to be inventors: He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer, or by a weaver - by any sort of workman or skilled designer. Painting, carpentry, planting trees, landscaping, decoration, architecture drawing, cooking, writing, and other jobs involve artistry too. In fact, any time a person is building, he is inventing, although this work only feels like creativity when it is accomplished in a spirit of joy.
Whatever profession a believer is engaged in, to the best of his or her ability, with integrity, and in a spirit of thankfulness, he or she works for the King of the universe and is doing something good. Allāh is the first and the best of the creators, but since we are made in his image, we also produce. The Qur'an and Sunnah focuses our attention on those who not only produce something beautiful but also redirect attention to the Glory of Allāh and teach others.

89 : 27

مَن جَآءَ بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡهَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعٖ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ءَامِنُونَ

89. Whoever comes with a good deed ^[17], then for him will be better than it, and they will be secure from the terror on that Day.

[17]. I.e., belief in the Oneness of Allāh along with every deed of righteousness they did.

90 : 27

وَمَن جَآءَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتۡ وُجُوهُهُمۡ فِي ٱلنَّارِ هَلۡ تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

90. And whoever comes with an evil (deed) ^[18], then their faces will be hurled into the Fire. (It will be said): "Are you recompensed for anything except what you used to do?"

[18]. I.e., polytheism, disbelief, and every evil sinful deed they committed.

91 : 27

إِنَّمَآ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ رَبَّ هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡبَلۡدَةِ ٱلَّذِي حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهُۥ كُلُّ شَيۡءٖۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ

91. (Say Muhammad), "I have only been commanded to worship (Allāh alone) the Lord of this town ^[19], Who has made it sacred, and to Whom belongs every thing. And I am commanded to be one of those who (fully) submit (to Him as Muslims) ^[20]."

[19]. Makkah and its surroundings.
[20]. I.e., submitter to the Will of God.

92 : 27

وَأَنۡ أَتۡلُوَاْ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَۖ فَمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهۡتَدِي لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَقُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَ

92. And that I recite the Qur’an ^[21]." Whoever is guided, he is only guided for 'the benefit of' his own self. Whoever strays, then say: "I am only of the warners."

[21]. The Qur’an gives guidance about how anyone can live his life in the way Allāh would want them to. There is guidance in the Qur’an in every aspect of life wherein the person will turn to its advice when he is faced with a dilemma. Acting in accordance with the Qur’an leads us to Salvation through following the Prophet Muhammad. The Qur’an and the Sunnah will give you guidance. It will keep you away from sin. Allah's word will protect you. You will have wisdom. You will grow in your faith in Allāh. It heals your body. It is your weapon. The Qur’an contains the way of salvation, the misery of sinners, and the happiness of the believers. Its rules are obligatory, its precepts are binding, its histories are true. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be righteous.

93 : 27

وَقُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ سَيُرِيكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَتَعۡرِفُونَهَاۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ

93. And say: All Praise be to Allāh, He will soon show you His signs and you will recognize them. Your Lord 'Allāh' is never unaware of what you do.
