(60) Have you ˹Muhammad˺ not seen those who falsely claim that they Believe[902] in what was sent down to you and what was sent down before you[903]; ˹yet still˺ they want to resort to false gods[904] to adjudicate ˹their disputes˺, when they were commanded to reject it[905]—Satan wants to swerve them far off the path ˹of guidance˺.

[904] According to ʿAbdullāh Ibn ʿAbbās (رضي الله عنهما) this aya was revealed with regards to a group of the Aslam tribe, who professed Islam, then went to Abū Zurārah al-Aslamī, the soothsayer, to settle a dispute.
