وَلَقَدۡ أَنذَرَهُم بَطۡشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوۡاْ بِٱلنُّذُرِ

أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا: خَوَّفَهُمْ لُوطٌ - عليه السلام - بَاسَ اللهِ.
فَتَمَارَوْا: شَكُّوا، وَكَذَّبُوا.
