Translation of the meanings Ayah: (45) Surah: Al-Baqarah
وَٱسۡتَعِينُواْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلۡخَٰشِعِينَ
(45) Seek help in patience and Prayer[80]; indeed they are hard save for the dedicated[81].
[80] The commentary widely-known as al-Jalālayn has it that this command is addressed to: “The Children of Israel who were hampered from Belief out of greed and love of vainglory. They are commanded to seek help in patience, i.e. fasting, which dents wantonness, and Prayer because it leads to humbleness and expels haughtiness”.
[81] The ‘dedicated’ (al-khāshiʿīn) are those who are humble in obedience to God, fearful of His Punishment, Believing in His promise and warning. (al-Ṭabarī)
