Translation of the meanings Surah: Al-Mā‘ūn   Ayah:

Al-Mā‘ūn

1. Have you seen the one who denies the (Day of Judgment and) Recompense?
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
2. It is he who turns down the orphan¹,
1. Don't mistreat widows or orphans. If you do and they cry out to Allāh, He will certainly hear their cry. His Anger will be aroused and He will take revenge for them.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
3. And does not urge (others) to feed the poor².
2. Feed the hungry, and help those in need. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. Allāh will guide you continually, blessing you abundantly.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ
4. Woe to those praying,
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ
5. Who are neglectful of their prayers³,
3. Delaying them from their appointed times.
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ

Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ
7. And refuse to give (the simplest) aid⁴ (of a donation, let alone the Zakah - the poor-rate)⁵.
4. When we are moved to supply the needs of another, we are to “not treat it like a business deal” and should make no gain or profit from it. We should do it for the sake of Allāh (God) only without excepting any return from the people. Let’s ask Allāh to open our eyes and hearts to see how we can ease the pain of those who are suffering. Whether we seek to meet the needs of many or those of a single person, we honor Allāh by treating them with dignity and care. Muhammad, the Messenger of God (ﷺ), said:
"Allāh (mighty and sublime be He) will say on the Day of Resurrection: O son of Adam, I fell ill and you visited Me not. He will say: Lord, and how should I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so had fallen ill and you visited him not? Did you not know that had you visited him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not. He will say: Lord, how should I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that (the reward for doing so) with Me? O son of Adam, I asked you to give Me to drink and you gave Me not to drink. He will say: Lord, how should I give You to drink when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: My servant So-and-so asked you to give him to drink and you gave him not to drink. Had you given him to drink you would have surely found that with Me."
5. Allāh calls and equips us to use our talents and skills to meet needs that are present in our community and world. Let’s release our skills into the service of Allāh and see how He will use our acts of love to sew hearts and lives together."
