Translation of the meanings Ayah: (45) Surah: Al-Mā’idah
45. We ordained for them in it (the Torah) that a life is for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds an equal retaliation. But he who waives it charitably, it will be an expiation for him43. Whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed, then it is they who are the unjust.
43. A person who is injured should not be driven by spitefulness and the desire to exact revenge. This spirit of forgiveness is not only encouraged by Allāh but is also generously rewarded for.
