Ayah: 1

سَاَلَ سَآىِٕلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَّاقِعٍ ۟ۙ
درخواست‌کننده‌ای [به تمسخر] تقاضای عذابی را کرد که وقوعش [در قیامت] حتمی است،
Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

Ayah: 2

لِّلْكٰفِرِیْنَ لَیْسَ لَهٗ دَافِعٌ ۟ۙ
[این عذاب،] برای کافران است [و] هیچ دفع‌کننده‌ای ندارد.

Ayah: 3

مِّنَ اللّٰهِ ذِی الْمَعَارِجِ ۟ؕ
از سوی الله [به وقوع می‌پیوندد که دارای عُلُو و] صاحبِ مراتب و درجات والاست.

Ayah: 4

تَعْرُجُ الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُ وَالرُّوْحُ اِلَیْهِ فِیْ یَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهٗ خَمْسِیْنَ اَلْفَ سَنَةٍ ۟ۚ
فرشتگان و روح [= جبرئیل] به سوی او عروج می‌کنند، در روزی ‌که مقدارش [در مقیاس بشری،] پنجاه‌ هزار سال است.

فَاصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِیْلًا ۟
پس تو [ای پیامبر، در برابر تمسخرشان] صبرِ نیکو پیشه کن.

اِنَّهُمْ یَرَوْنَهٗ بَعِیْدًا ۟ۙ
بی‌گمان، آنها آن [روز] را دور می‌بینند

وَّنَرٰىهُ قَرِیْبًا ۟ؕ
و ما آن را نزدیک می‌بینیم.

یَوْمَ تَكُوْنُ السَّمَآءُ كَالْمُهْلِ ۟ۙ
[همان] روزی ‌که آسمان چون مسِ گداخته شود،

وَتَكُوْنُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ ۟ۙ
و کوه‌ها مانند پشم رنگین [متلاشی و پراکنده] شود.

وَلَا یَسْـَٔلُ حَمِیْمٌ حَمِیْمًا ۟ۚۖ
و هیچ دوست صمیمی [و خویشاوندی] از [حال] دوست صمیمی [و خویشاوندش] نمی‌پرسد.
