Al-Jumu‘ah

آیه: 1

يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡمَلِكِ ٱلۡقُدُّوسِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَكِيمِ

1. All that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth glorify Allah, the King, the Holy, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

آیه: 2

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي ٱلۡأُمِّيِّـۧنَ رَسُولٗا مِّنۡهُمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ لَفِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٖ

2. It is He (Allah) Who has sent among the unlettered (Arabs) a Messenger (the Prophet Muhammad) from themselves, reciting to them His Verses and purifying them, and teaching them the Book (the Qur’an) and the Wisdom, although they were before in manifest error.

آیه: 3

وَءَاخَرِينَ مِنۡهُمۡ لَمَّا يَلۡحَقُواْ بِهِمۡۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

3. And (a messenger to) others of them¹, who have not yet joined them. He (Allah) is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

1. I.e., to all people from all times, races, and regions.

آیه: 4

ذَٰلِكَ فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤۡتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلۡفَضۡلِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

4. Such is Allah’s bounty; He grants it to whom He wills, for Allah is the possessor of great bounty.

آیه: 5

مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ حُمِّلُواْ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَحۡمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ ٱلۡحِمَارِ يَحۡمِلُ أَسۡفَارَۢاۚ بِئۡسَ مَثَلُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

5. The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah, then did not observe it, is like that of a donkey carrying volumes of books on its back (but understands nothing from them). How evil is the example of the people who reject the revelations of Allah. Allah does not guide the unjust people.

آیه: 6

قُلۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوٓاْ إِن زَعَمۡتُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءُ لِلَّهِ مِن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُاْ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

6. Say: "O you who are Jews, if you claim that you (alone) are close to Allah with the exclusion of all other people, then long for death if you are truthful."

آیه: 7

وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوۡنَهُۥٓ أَبَدَۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

7. They will never long for death because of what their hands have sent forth (of evil). Allah knows well the unjust people.

آیه: 8

قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ ٱلَّذِي تَفِرُّونَ مِنۡهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مُلَٰقِيكُمۡۖ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

8. Say: "The death from which you flee, will certainly meet you, then you will be returned to (Allah) the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of that which you used to do."

آیه: 9

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلَوٰةِ مِن يَوۡمِ ٱلۡجُمُعَةِ فَٱسۡعَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ ذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِ وَذَرُواْ ٱلۡبَيۡعَۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ

9. Believers, when the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the day of assembly)², then hasten to the Remembrance of Allah and leave off all business. This is better for you - if only you knew it.

2. The believers are exhorted not to neglect meeting together in the mosques for the congregational prayer and the Qur'an study and Sunnah, but to encourage one another to embrace the spirit of congregation that they are truly part of the mosque, God’s house, to enter His presence confidently in prayer, to enter God’s presence in worship, and to maintain that confidence in living out their lives.

آیه: 10

فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةُ فَٱنتَشِرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱبۡتَغُواْ مِن فَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱذۡكُرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ

10. When the prayer ends, disperse through the land and seek of God’s bounty (by lawful working and earning), and remember Allah much - that you may succeed.

آیه: 11

وَإِذَا رَأَوۡاْ تِجَٰرَةً أَوۡ لَهۡوًا ٱنفَضُّوٓاْ إِلَيۡهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَآئِمٗاۚ قُلۡ مَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيۡرٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهۡوِ وَمِنَ ٱلتِّجَٰرَةِۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ

11. But (on one occasion) when they saw merchandise or amusement, they rushed to it, and left you standing. Say (Muhammad): "What is with Allah is better than any amusement or merchandise. For Allah is the Best of Providers."
