116. Indeed, those who disbelieve (in Allāh and His messenger Muhammad), neither their wealth nor their children will help them in the least against Allāh 'God'. These are the inmates of the Fire - therein they will abide forever.
117. The likeness of what they spend in the life of this world is as the likeness of frosty wind (that) strikes the harvest of a people who have sinned against themselves and destroys it. Allāh has not done injustice to them, but they have wronged themselves.
118. O believers, do not take for intimate friends 38 other than your own people39. They will not slacken in seeking to harm you. They wish that you would be afflicted. 38. As strategic allies, revealing to them your secrets and the particulars of your state of affairs.
39. I.e., the Jews, Christians, and pagans.
119. Here you are, you love them40 but they do not love you41, while you believe in all the (Divine) Books42. When they meet you, they say: "We believe," and when they are alone, they bite their fingertips in rage. Say: "Die in your rage". Indeed, Allāh knows well what is in the chests.
40. On account of their pretence of friendship towards you.
41. Since they oppose you in religion.
42. Such as the Torah and the Gospel, while they disbelieve in the Qur’an, God's Last Message and Testament.
120. If good befalls you, it grieves them, and if harm afflicts you, they rejoice at it. But if you have patience and piety, their scheme will not harm you in any way. Indeed, Allāh comprehends what they do.
121. And (recall) when you (Muhammad) went forth from your household at morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle (of Uhud). And Allāh is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
