Al-Qāri‘ah

આયત: 1

ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ

1. The striking calamity1.

1. I.e., the Day of Resurrection.

આયત: 2

مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ

2. What is the striking calamity?

આયત: 3

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ

3. How do you know what the striking calamity is?

આયત: 4

يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ

4. On the Day, people will be as scattered moths (in confusion),

આયત: 5

وَتَكُونُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَٱلۡعِهۡنِ ٱلۡمَنفُوشِ

5. And mountains will be like carded wool.

આયત: 6

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

6. As for one whose scales of good deeds are heavy,

આયત: 7

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ

7. He will live a pleasant life (in Paradise).

આયત: 8

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

8. But as for one whose scales of good deeds are light,

આયત: 9

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٞ

9. Hell will be his refuge¹.

1. Literally, "his nursing mother" (a man's original refuge), which will envelop him as in an embrace.

આયત: 10

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهۡ

10. And how do you know what it is?

આયત: 11

نَارٌ حَامِيَةُۢ

11. It is a Fire, intensely hot.
