مُهۡطِعِينَ مُقۡنِعِي رُءُوسِهِمۡ لَا يَرۡتَدُّ إِلَيۡهِمۡ طَرۡفُهُمۡۖ وَأَفۡـِٔدَتُهُمۡ هَوَآءٞ
43. Running ahead, with necks outstretched; heads upraised, their gaze unblinking, and their hearts void within [17].
[17]. This portrays the psychological reality of divine justice. Those who once acted with arrogance and defiance are now stripped of control — physically rushing, mentally frozen, spiritually hollow.
It’s a profound reversal:
Once proud → now humiliated.
Once boastful → now speechless.
Once heedless → now staring in horror.
For the believer, these words are not meant to terrify but to awaken — to remind us that the heart filled with remembrance of Allāh will not be hollow on that Day.
“The Day when neither wealth nor children will benefit, except one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart.” — Qur’an 26:88–89
