كُتِبَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ إِن تَرَكَ خَيۡرًا ٱلۡوَصِيَّةُ لِلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۖ حَقًّا عَلَى ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
180. It is ordained for you; when death approaches one of you, if he leaves wealth, he should make a bequest for the parents and close relatives in a fair manner [58]. (This is) an obligation upon the righteous [59].
[58]. Not giving more than the allotted share of one-third.
[59]. This verse has been abrogated by the ‘inheritance’ verse, see Q. 4:11 and by the
saying of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: ‘Do not make testament for one [already] inheriting’.
