هُوَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ ضِيَآءٗ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ نُورٗا وَقَدَّرَهُۥ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعۡلَمُواْ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلۡحِسَابَۚ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ذَٰلِكَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ يُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ لِقَوۡمٖ يَعۡلَمُونَ
5. It is He who made the sun radiant and the moon a [reflected] light [5], and has determined for it phases so that you may know the number of years and the reckoning of time. Allāh did not create this except with truth [and purpose]. He makes the signs clear for people who have knowledge.
[5]. The sun is described as radiant, generating its own light, while the moon is a reflected light, drawing from the sun. Its phases allow humans to measure years and reckon time. This distinction reflects Allah’s perfect design and wisdom, and He makes such signs clear for those who seek knowledge, guiding them to understand His purpose and order in creation.
