لَآ إِكۡرَاهَ فِي ٱلدِّينِۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ ٱلرُّشۡدُ مِنَ ٱلۡغَيِّۚ فَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَيُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱسۡتَمۡسَكَ بِٱلۡعُرۡوَةِ ٱلۡوُثۡقَىٰ لَا ٱنفِصَامَ لَهَاۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
256. There is no compulsion in [the acceptance of] religion [99]. The right path has already become clearly distinct from error. So whoever rejects false gods and believes in Allāh has indeed grasped the firmest handhold, which will never break. And Allāh is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
[99]. This is a great Islamic principle whereby no one is to be coerced to believe, but it is the duty of the believers to make sure that people know about Islam and what is right and what is wrong.
