107. As for those (hypocrites) who have taken to themselves a mosque to cause harm and for denial and to cause division among the believers and as a base for those who fought against Allāh and His messenger before. And they will certainly swear:"We did not intend anything but the excellent. Allāh bears witness that they are certainly liars.
108. Never stand therein. Indeed a mosque founded on piety from the very first day is more deserving that you should stand therein 'to pray'. In it are men who love to purify themselves. Allāh loves those who purify themselves and are clean35.
35. Muhammad, the Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Cleanliness is half of faith”.
Doing ablution and showering regularly. Keeping nails a suitable length and cleaning under them. Thoroughly brushing your teeth regularly. Washing your hands before and after mealtimes and after going to the bathroom are all exhorted in Islam. We must also give much care to the cleanness of our hearts and purifying ourselves from the sins. Cleanliness is important, for it builds up a healthy environment that facilitates physical and mental well-being and growth. Therefore, its individual, as well as collective importance cannot be denied. Cleaning the environment is the key to the existence and survival of life on planet earth. Maintaining a clean environment reduces pollution, preserves our biosphere, protects endangered species, and helps preserve the earth’s natural resources. In society, the state of cleanliness represents the mindset of its inhabitants. It is more pleasant to spend time in a clean and tidy home than one that is cluttered and messy. Not only is it pleasing to have a well-organised space, but it can also be beneficial to your mental and physical health.
109. So, is he who founded his building36 on piety to Allāh and His pleasure better, or he who founded his building37 on the edge of a crumbling bank, so it crumbled with him into the Fire of Gehinnom 'Hell'? Allāh does not guide the 'persistently' wrongdoing people.
36. Like the mosque of Quba.
37. Like masjid al-dirar (mosque of harm).
110. The building38 which they have built will ever continue to be a source of unrest in their hearts, unless their hearts are torn into pieces39. For Allāh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
38. The mosque of harm.
39. I.e., till their death
111. Indeed, Allāh has purchased from the believers their lives and their wealth in exchange for Paradise. They fight for the Cause of Allāh, so they kill (the enemies of peace) and are killed (for the truth and justice)40. This is a true Promise which He has Revealed in the Torah, the Evangel, and the Qur’an. No one is more true to his promise than Allāh. So rejoice of the tidings of your transaction which you have pledged (with it). This is indeed the supreme triumph.
40. Muhammad, God's Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allāh laughs at two men, one of them killed the other, yet they both entered Paradise. This one fought in the way of Allāh and was killed, then his killer repented and was also martyred.”
