23 : 12

وَرَٰوَدَتۡهُ ٱلَّتِي هُوَ فِي بَيۡتِهَا عَن نَّفۡسِهِۦ وَغَلَّقَتِ ٱلۡأَبۡوَٰبَ وَقَالَتۡ هَيۡتَ لَكَۚ قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ رَبِّيٓ أَحۡسَنَ مَثۡوَايَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ

23. But she [the woman] in whose house he was, sought to seduce him. She firmly locked the doors and said, "Come to me!" He said, "God forbid! Truly, He is my Lord [who has] made excellent my residence. Indeed, the wrongdoers will never prosper." info

24 : 12

وَلَقَدۡ هَمَّتۡ بِهِۦۖ وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوۡلَآ أَن رَّءَا بُرۡهَٰنَ رَبِّهِۦۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنَصۡرِفَ عَنۡهُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَٱلۡفَحۡشَآءَۚ إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ

24. She certainly desired him, and he would have desired her—had he not seen the clear proof of his Lord. Thus [it was] that We might turn away from him all evil and indecency. Indeed, he was one of Our devoted, purified servants. info

25 : 12

وَٱسۡتَبَقَا ٱلۡبَابَ وَقَدَّتۡ قَمِيصَهُۥ مِن دُبُرٖ وَأَلۡفَيَا سَيِّدَهَا لَدَا ٱلۡبَابِۚ قَالَتۡ مَا جَزَآءُ مَنۡ أَرَادَ بِأَهۡلِكَ سُوٓءًا إِلَّآ أَن يُسۡجَنَ أَوۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

25. They both raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from behind [7]. They suddenly found her master at the door. She cried, "What should be the punishment for one who intended evil toward your wife except that he be imprisoned or suffer a painful punishment?" info

[7]. While he was running away from sin.

26 : 12

قَالَ هِيَ رَٰوَدَتۡنِي عَن نَّفۡسِيۚ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٞ مِّنۡ أَهۡلِهَآ إِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن قُبُلٖ فَصَدَقَتۡ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ

26. [Joseph] said, :It was she who sought to seduce me." A witness from her own household testified, saying: "If his shirt is torn from the front, then she is speaking the truth, and he is of the liars." info

27 : 12

وَإِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٖ فَكَذَبَتۡ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ

27. But if his shirt is torn from behind, then she has lied, and he is of the truthful. info

28 : 12

فَلَمَّا رَءَا قَمِيصَهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٖ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ مِن كَيۡدِكُنَّۖ إِنَّ كَيۡدَكُنَّ عَظِيمٞ

28. When he saw that his shirt was torn from behind, he said, "Surely, it is of you [women's] guile; indeed, your guile is terrible." info

29 : 12

يُوسُفُ أَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡ هَٰذَاۚ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرِي لِذَنۢبِكِۖ إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ ٱلۡخَاطِـِٔينَ

29. Joseph, turn away from this. and you [wife], seek forgiveness for your sin — for indeed, you have been among the sinners. info

30 : 12

۞ وَقَالَ نِسۡوَةٞ فِي ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ ٱمۡرَأَتُ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ تُرَٰوِدُ فَتَىٰهَا عَن نَّفۡسِهِۦۖ قَدۡ شَغَفَهَا حُبًّاۖ إِنَّا لَنَرَىٰهَا فِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٖ

30. [Some] women in the city said, "The wife of al-ʿAzīz [8] is trying to seduce her slave-boy. Love for him has deeply consumed her heart! Indeed, we surely see her to be clearly in error." info

[8]. i.e., Potiphar, the captian of Pharaoh’s guard
