Al-Jāthiyah

1 : 45

حمٓ

1. Ha Meem ^[1].

2 : 45

تَنزِيلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَكِيمِ

2.The revelation of the Book ^[2] is from Allāh, the All-Mighty, All-Wise.

[2]. This Qur’an.

3 : 45

إِنَّ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

3. Indeed, in the heavens and the earth there are signs for the believers.

4 : 45

وَفِي خَلۡقِكُمۡ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِن دَآبَّةٍ ءَايَٰتٞ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُوقِنُونَ

4. And in your own creation and what He (Allāh) dispersed of living beings (are) signs for people who are certain (in faith).

5 : 45

وَٱخۡتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مِن رِّزۡقٖ فَأَحۡيَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَا وَتَصۡرِيفِ ٱلرِّيَٰحِ ءَايَٰتٞ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ

5. And (in) the alternation of the night and day, and what Allāh sends down of provision from the sky 'the rain' to revive the barren earth after its death, and the directing of the winds ^[3], (are) signs for a people who reason.

[3]. I.e., sometimes towards the east or north, and sometimes towards the south or west, sometimes bringing glad tidings of rain etc., and sometimes bringing torment.

6 : 45

تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱللَّهِ نَتۡلُوهَا عَلَيۡكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۭ بَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَايَٰتِهِۦ يُؤۡمِنُونَ

6. These are the Verses of Allāh which We recite to you in truth. Then in what discourse after (denying) Allāh and His signs, (will) they believe?

7 : 45

وَيۡلٞ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٖ

7. Woe to every liar sinful,

8 : 45

يَسۡمَعُ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسۡتَكۡبِرٗا كَأَن لَّمۡ يَسۡمَعۡهَاۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٖ

8. (who) hears the Verses of Allāh recited to him, then persists (in his) arrogance as though he had not heard them; so announce to him a painful torment.

9 : 45

وَإِذَا عَلِمَ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا شَيۡـًٔا ٱتَّخَذَهَا هُزُوًاۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ

9. And when he comes to know of any of Our verses (of this Qur’an), he takes them in ridicule. These will have a humiliating torment.

10 : 45

مِّن وَرَآئِهِمۡ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَلَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُم مَّا كَسَبُواْ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا مَا ٱتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡلِيَآءَۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

10. In front of them is Gehinnom (Hell) and there will not avail them anything of what they earned (of worldly gains), nor (avail) what they took for protectors besides Allāh. They will have a tremendous torment.

11 : 45

هَٰذَا هُدٗىۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مِّن رِّجۡزٍ أَلِيمٌ

11. This (Qur’an) is Guidance and those who disbelieve in the Verses of their Lord (Allāh), they will have a torment of agonising pain.

12 : 45

۞ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ لِتَجۡرِيَ ٱلۡفُلۡكُ فِيهِ بِأَمۡرِهِۦ وَلِتَبۡتَغُواْ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ

12. It is Allāh Who subjected the sea for you so that ships sail on it by His command and that you may seek His bounty, so that you may be grateful (to Him).

13 : 45

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَمِيعٗا مِّنۡهُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

13. He (also) subjected for you all that is in the heavens ^[4] and all that is in the earth ^[5], all, from Him ^[6]. There are certainly signs in this for a people who reflect.

[4]. of sun, moon, stars, etc.
[5]. of seas, rivers, trees, mountains, etc.
[6]. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of Allāh.

14 : 45

قُل لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَغۡفِرُواْ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ أَيَّامَ ٱللَّهِ لِيَجۡزِيَ قَوۡمَۢا بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ

14. Tell those who believe ^[7] that they forgive those who do not fear Allah’s days (of retribution) ^[8], so that He may requite a people for what they earned (of sins).

[7]. in Allāh and His messenger Muhammad.
[8]. Never avenge yourselves unless it is for the sake of Allāh and against violation of His Commands. If it is against yourself, it is better to leave it to Allāh and never avenge yourself. Let no one deceive you with vain words to revert you back into non-Muslim manners, for because of the sins the Wrath of Allāh comes upon the sinners.

15 : 45

مَنۡ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَسَآءَ فَعَلَيۡهَاۖ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ تُرۡجَعُونَ

15. Whoever does what is right 'and just', it is good for himself. And whoever does evil, it is against himself. Then to (Allāh) your Lord you will all be returned.

16 : 45

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحُكۡمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقۡنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَفَضَّلۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

16. And indeed, We gave the children of Israel the Scripture, judiciousness ^[9], and Prophethood, and provided them with good things, and We preferred them above all other peoples (of their time) ^[10].

[9]. To guide people and judge among them.
[10]. By sending them many prophets from among the descendants of Abraham.



   

17 : 45

وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُم بَيِّنَٰتٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡرِۖ فَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفُوٓاْ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُ بَغۡيَۢا بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقۡضِي بَيۡنَهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ

17. And We (also) gave them clear Commandments of the matter (of Islam). Then they did not differ except after (Divine) knowledge had come to them, out of envy among themselves. Indeed, your Lord (Allāh) will decree between them on the Day of Resurrection about what they used to differ therein.

18 : 45

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡرِ فَٱتَّبِعۡهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ أَهۡوَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

18. Then We have set you (O Muhammad) on an ordained way of the matter (of Islam, the religion of all the prophets), so follow it. And do not follow the low desires of those who do not know.

19 : 45

إِنَّهُمۡ لَن يُغۡنُواْ عَنكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءُ بَعۡضٖۖ وَٱللَّهُ وَلِيُّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ

19. Surely they will never avail you (O Prophet) in the least against Allāh. And indeed the wrongdoers are allies of one another, but Allāh is the Protector of the righteous.

20 : 45

هَٰذَا بَصَٰٓئِرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدٗى وَرَحۡمَةٞ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُوقِنُونَ

20. This (Qur’an) is insights for mankind - a guidance and mercy for a people who are certain in faith.

21 : 45

أَمۡ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱجۡتَرَحُواْ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن نَّجۡعَلَهُمۡ كَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَوَآءٗ مَّحۡيَاهُمۡ وَمَمَاتُهُمۡۚ سَآءَ مَا يَحۡكُمُونَ

21. Or do those who commit evil deeds think that We shall make them like those who believe and do good deeds - equal in their life and their death? Evil is what they judge!

22 : 45

وَخَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلِتُجۡزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ

22. Allāh has created the heavens and the earth for truth (and genuine purpose) and that every soul may be duly recompensed for what it has earned (of good or bad). They will no be treated unjustly.

23 : 45

أَفَرَءَيۡتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٖ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ سَمۡعِهِۦ وَقَلۡبِهِۦ وَجَعَلَ عَلَىٰ بَصَرِهِۦ غِشَٰوَةٗ فَمَن يَهۡدِيهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱللَّهِۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

23. Have you then seen him who takes his lowly desires as his god? And, Allāh left him astray knowingly, set a seal upon his hearing and heart and and placed over his vision a veil? Theveiled his vision. Who can guide him after Allāh? Will you not then take heed?

24 : 45

وَقَالُواْ مَا هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا يُهۡلِكُنَآ إِلَّا ٱلدَّهۡرُۚ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

24. And the (pagans) say: There is nothing but our life in this world, we live and die (but once) and nothing causes us to perish but (the passing of) time. And they have no (sure) knowledge about that ^[11]. Indeed they are only guessing.

[11]. The real nature and meaning of life and death, and the life to come.

25 : 45

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُواْ ٱئۡتُواْ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

25. And when Our clear Verses (of this Qur’an) are recited to them, their argument is no other than that they say: "Bring our forefathers, if you are truthful."

26 : 45

قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُحۡيِيكُمۡ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمۡ ثُمَّ يَجۡمَعُكُمۡ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

26. Say, "It is Allāh Who gives you life and then causes you to die. Then He will gather you together to the Day of Resurrection (and Judgment), no doubt about it, but most people do not know."

27 : 45

وَلِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَيَوۡمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَخۡسَرُ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ

27. And to Allāh belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And On the Day when the Hour 'of Doom' will come to pass, that Day, the followers of falsehood will lose.

28 : 45

وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةٖ جَاثِيَةٗۚ كُلُّ أُمَّةٖ تُدۡعَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ كِتَٰبِهَا ٱلۡيَوۡمَ تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

28. And you (will) see every nation kneeling down (of fear). Every nation will be summoned to its record (of deeds): "Today you shall be recompensed for what you used to do (of good or evil)."

29 : 45

هَٰذَا كِتَٰبُنَا يَنطِقُ عَلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسۡتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

29. This is Our record speaks about you in truth. Indeed, We (Our angels by Our Command) have been transcribing (all) what you used to do.

30 : 45

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُدۡخِلُهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ فِي رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ

30. As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord (Allāh) will admit them into His mercy. That is the manifest achievement.

31 : 45

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَفَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ ءَايَٰتِي تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ وَكُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا مُّجۡرِمِينَ

31. But as for those who disbelieved, (they will be asked): "Were not My verses 'of the Qur’an' recited to you? Yet you were arrogant, and you were a guilty people

32 : 45

وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهَا قُلۡتُم مَّا نَدۡرِي مَا ٱلسَّاعَةُ إِن نَّظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنّٗا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُسۡتَيۡقِنِينَ

32. And when it was said that the Promise of Allāh is true and that the Hour - there is no doubt about it, you said: "We do not know what the Hour (of Doom) is; we assume only assumption, and we are not convinced (that it will ever come).

33 : 45

وَبَدَا لَهُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُواْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

33. And the evil (consequences) of their deeds will appear to them, and (the torment) which they mocked at will encompass them.

34 : 45

وَقِيلَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ نَنسَىٰكُمۡ كَمَا نَسِيتُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هَٰذَا وَمَأۡوَىٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ

34. And it will be said: "This Day We shall forget you ^[12] as you forgot the Encounter of this Day of yours. Your abode is the Hellfire, and there is none to help you;

[12]. I.e., abondon you in the Hellfire.

35 : 45

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّكُمُ ٱتَّخَذۡتُمۡ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ هُزُوٗا وَغَرَّتۡكُمُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۚ فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ لَا يُخۡرَجُونَ مِنۡهَا وَلَا هُمۡ يُسۡتَعۡتَبُونَ

35. This is because you took the Verses of Allāh (this Qur’an) as jest, and worldly life deluded you." So this Day they will not be taken out of it (Hell), nor will they be asked to appease (Allah).

36 : 45

فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَرَبِّ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

36. Then for Allāh is all the praise, Lord of the heavens, and Lord of the earth, Lord of the worlds.

37 : 45

وَلَهُ ٱلۡكِبۡرِيَآءُ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

37. And to Him (alone) belongs all grandeur in the heavens and the earth. He is the All-Mighty, All-Wise.
