[581] En árabe se utiliza el gentilicio samiri, que puede aludir a la persona natural de la antigua región de Samaria, situada en el norte de la margen occidental del río Jordán, o puede referirse a un samaritano, persona que pertenecía a un grupo étnico-religioso emparentado con los judíos que descendía de las doce tribus de Israel, pero que estableció cierta rivalidad con estos.
