45. Y (recuerda) cuando los ángeles dijeron: “¡María!, Al-lah te anuncia la buena nueva de (un hijo creado a partir de) una palabra Suya (‘sé’), de nombre el Mesías[102], Jesús, hijo de María. Será ensalzado con honor en esta vida y en la otra, y estará entre los próximos (a Al-lah).
[102] La palabra “Mesías” en árabe es Masih y proviene del verbo masaha, que significa “tocar” o “masajear”. Al parecer, Jesús—la paz de Al-lah esté con él— era llamado así porque cuando tocaba a una persona afectada por una enfermedad, esta se curaba con el consentimiento de Al-lah.
