75 : 18

۞ قَالَ أَلَمۡ أَقُل لَّكَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسۡتَطِيعَ مَعِيَ صَبۡرٗا

75. (Al-Khidr) said: "Did I not say to you that you will never be able to have patience with me?" info

76 : 18

قَالَ إِن سَأَلۡتُكَ عَن شَيۡءِۭ بَعۡدَهَا فَلَا تُصَٰحِبۡنِيۖ قَدۡ بَلَغۡتَ مِن لَّدُنِّي عُذۡرٗا

76. (Moses) said: "If I ask you about anything after this, do not keep me in your company; indeed you have then attained from me an excuse." info

77 : 18

فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَيَآ أَهۡلَ قَرۡيَةٍ ٱسۡتَطۡعَمَآ أَهۡلَهَا فَأَبَوۡاْ أَن يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا فَوَجَدَا فِيهَا جِدَارٗا يُرِيدُ أَن يَنقَضَّ فَأَقَامَهُۥۖ قَالَ لَوۡ شِئۡتَ لَتَّخَذۡتَ عَلَيۡهِ أَجۡرٗا

77. So they went on, until when they came to the people of a town, They asked its people for food, but they refused to entertain them both as guests. They then found a wall therein which was on the point of falling down, so he put it into a right state [40]. 'Moses' said: "If you had wished, you could have taken payment for it." info

[40]. Allāh has filled man with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship. David built houses for himself and he prepared a place for the mosque of Allāh and pitched a tent for it for giving food for the needy. Allāh made also pliable for him iron. Zakariyya was a carpenter. This also states the virtue of Zakariyya peace be upon him for he would eat through earning a livelihood which Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) termed as ‘the best thing a man can eat. Jesus was labourer. Or one who works with his hands. prophets Moses and Muhammad worked as shepherds. We read from this verse also that Al-Khidr found a wall which was on the point of falling down, so he put it into a right state.
In every profession you choose to work you must be skillful or you cannot excel in life.

78 : 18

قَالَ هَٰذَا فِرَاقُ بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنِكَۚ سَأُنَبِّئُكَ بِتَأۡوِيلِ مَا لَمۡ تَسۡتَطِع عَّلَيۡهِ صَبۡرًا

78. (Al-Khidr) said: "This is the parting between me and you; now I will inform you of the interpretation of that with which you could not have patience. info

79 : 18

أَمَّا ٱلسَّفِينَةُ فَكَانَتۡ لِمَسَٰكِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ فَأَرَدتُّ أَنۡ أَعِيبَهَا وَكَانَ وَرَآءَهُم مَّلِكٞ يَأۡخُذُ كُلَّ سَفِينَةٍ غَصۡبٗا

79. As for the ship, it belonged to (some) poor people who worked at sea, and I wanted to cause defect in it as there was after them a king, who was taking every (good) ship by force. info

80 : 18

وَأَمَّا ٱلۡغُلَٰمُ فَكَانَ أَبَوَاهُ مُؤۡمِنَيۡنِ فَخَشِينَآ أَن يُرۡهِقَهُمَا طُغۡيَٰنٗا وَكُفۡرٗا

80. As for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared lest he would overburden them both by transgression and disbelief, info

81 : 18

فَأَرَدۡنَآ أَن يُبۡدِلَهُمَا رَبُّهُمَا خَيۡرٗا مِّنۡهُ زَكَوٰةٗ وَأَقۡرَبَ رُحۡمٗا

81. So we intended that their Lord (Allāh) might give them both in his place one better than him in purity and nearer in 'affection and' compassion . info

82 : 18

وَأَمَّا ٱلۡجِدَارُ فَكَانَ لِغُلَٰمَيۡنِ يَتِيمَيۡنِ فِي ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ وَكَانَ تَحۡتَهُۥ كَنزٞ لَّهُمَا وَكَانَ أَبُوهُمَا صَٰلِحٗا فَأَرَادَ رَبُّكَ أَن يَبۡلُغَآ أَشُدَّهُمَا وَيَسۡتَخۡرِجَا كَنزَهُمَا رَحۡمَةٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَۚ وَمَا فَعَلۡتُهُۥ عَنۡ أَمۡرِيۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَأۡوِيلُ مَا لَمۡ تَسۡطِع عَّلَيۡهِ صَبۡرٗا

82. As for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them, and their father was a righteous man. So your Lord willed that they should attain their maturity, and take out their treasure, a Mercy from your Lord, and I did not do it of my own accord. This is the interpretation of that with which you could not have patience." info

83 : 18

وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَن ذِي ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِۖ قُلۡ سَأَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡكُم مِّنۡهُ ذِكۡرًا

83. They ask you about Zulqarnain [41]. Say: "I shall recite to you about him a remembrance." info

[41]. The two-horned one i.e., Cyrus of Persia.
