At-Taghābun

1. All that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth glorify Allah. To Him belongs the dominion, and to Him is due (all) Praise, and He has full Power over all things.
2. It is He (Allah) Who created you all, then among you is the denier and among you is the believer. Allah sees what you do.
3. He has created the heavens and the earth for a genuine purpose and has formed you and perfected your forms. To Him (Allah) is the final return.
4. He knows all that is in the heavens and the earth, and all that you conceal or reveal. Allah is the All-Knower of what is in the chests (of mankind).
5. Has there not come to you the news of those who denied (the Truth of Islam) before? So they tasted the evil result of their affair, and they will have a painful torment.
6. This is because their messengers came to them with clear Proofs (to support their prophethood), but they said: "Shall human beings guide us?" So they denied and turned back, and Allah (God) was in no need of them (or their faith). Allah is Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.
7. Those who deny (the Truth) think that they will never be raised up (from the dead). Say: "Yes, by my Lord (Allah), you will certainly be raised up, then you will be informed of what you did. This is too easy for Allah."
8. So believe in Allah and His messenger (Muhammad) and the Light (of Guidance, the Qur’an) which We have sent down. Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
9. On the Day that He will gather you all together (for Judgment), that is the Day of Deprivation. Whoever believes in Allah and does righteous deeds, He (Allah) will remove from him his bad deeds and admit him into gardens under which rivers flow, to abide therein forever. This is the great achievement.
10. As for those who deny (the Oneness of God - Islamic Monotheism) and disbelieve in Our verses (of the Qur’an), they are the people of the eternal Fire, to abide therein. What a terrible destination.
11. No calamity befalls (anyone) except by God’s Permission. Whoever believes in Allah (God), He guides his heart¹. Allah is All-Knowing of everything.
1. To be patient and accept God's predestination with good heart and not to oppose God's Decree. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “He who (when struck by an affliction) slaps the cheeks, tears the clothes and calls to or follows the ways and traditions of the Days of Ignorance, is not from the believers.”
12. Obey Allah and obey the messenger (Muhammad), but if you turn away, then the duty of Our messenger is only the clear delivery (of the Message).
13. Allah, there is no God (worthy of worship) except Him. Upon Allah (alone) let the believers rely and put their full trust.
14. Believers, among your wives and your children there are some who are enemies to you²; so beware of them. However, if you pardon, ignore, and forgive³ - then Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
2. Since they may turn you away from following the Divine Path.
3. Their faults toward you and in worldly matters.
15. Your wealth and your children are only a trial, whereas with Allah there is a great reward (of Paradise).
16. So fear Allah 'God' and keep to His Commandments as much as you can, and listen and obey and spend (for the Cause of Allah), it is better for your own selves. Whoever is saved from the greediness of his own self - these are the successful.
17. If you lend to Allah a goodly loan⁴, He will double it for you and forgive your sins. Allah is Most Appreciative, Forbearing.
4. Whoever giving to the poor lends to Allah and He will repay it double. This also applies when we look at another person's life: the inner person. Are they poor in spirit? Lacking in hope? How can we help them have more hope? Are they lacking in faith? How can we add to their measure of faith? How can we add a measure to their joy? How can we add a measure to their peace? Love? Kindness?
It is easier to give money or goods, it's easier to do, because we can just give that physical thing and separate ourselves from it. Looking beyond that to a person's social-emotional well-being requires more of our time and to walk alongside someone. It requires our pouring out emotionally as well, to meet that person's intangible needs.
18. (Allah is) the Knower of the unseen and the seen, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
