آية: 222

وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡمَحِيضِۖ قُلۡ هُوَ أَذٗى فَٱعۡتَزِلُواْ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فِي ٱلۡمَحِيضِ وَلَا تَقۡرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّىٰ يَطۡهُرۡنَۖ فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرۡنَ فَأۡتُوهُنَّ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ أَمَرَكُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلتَّوَّٰبِينَ وَيُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُتَطَهِّرِينَ

222. They ask you about women's menses. Say: It is an ailment. Avoid having carnal relations with your wives71 during the menstrual discharge and do not approach them (for carnal relations) until their period is over. Then when they have cleansed themselves (from the menses), you may approach them as Allah has commanded you. Allah loves those who turn much (to Him in repentance), and He loves those who purify themselves and are clean72.

71. I.e., refrain from sexual intercourse during the menstrual discharge. It is prohibited for a man to divorce a menstruating woman during her menses. Women are supposed to maintain proper hygiene and stop prayer during the period of the menses. They do not have to make up the prayers they missed during menstruation. When the menstruating period is over, women have to perform ritual purification (ghusl, that is total bath) and resume prayer.
72. Clean and purify yourselves, stop to do evil. If we confess our sins, Allah is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. let us cleanse ourselves from all the impurity of flesh and spirit, perfecting righteousness in the fear of Allah. Ask Allah to create in you a clean heart. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see Allah.
