سورة المجادلة - Al-Mujādalah
قَدۡ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوۡلَ ٱلَّتِي تُجَٰدِلُكَ فِي زَوۡجِهَا وَتَشۡتَكِيٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ يَسۡمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمَآۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعُۢ بَصِيرٌ
1. Allah has certainly answered the prayer of the woman¹ who was pleading with you (Muhammad) about her husband², and was complaining to Allah³. Allah was listening to your dialogue. For Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

التفاسير العربية:
ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِهِم مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِهِمۡۖ إِنۡ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمۡ إِلَّا ٱلَّٰٓـِٔي وَلَدۡنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَيَقُولُونَ مُنكَرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَزُورٗاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٞ
2. Those who separate from their wives by likening them of their mothers⁴, they are not their mothers; their mothers are no other than those who gave birth to them. The words that they say are certainly detestable statement and falsehood. But Allah is surely All-Pardoning, All-Forgiving.
4. By saying to one's wife: "You are to me like the back of my mother." Meaning unlawful to approach, which was abolished by the revelation of the next verses.
التفاسير العربية:
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمۡ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُواْ فَتَحۡرِيرُ رَقَبَةٖ مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّاۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٞ
3. Those who separate from their wives by likening them to their mothers then (wish to) go back on what they have said, will have to set free a slave as a ransom before they touch each other⁵. To that you are admonished. Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
5. i.e., have carnal relations
التفاسير العربية:
فَمَن لَّمۡ يَجِدۡ فَصِيَامُ شَهۡرَيۡنِ مُتَتَابِعَيۡنِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّاۖ فَمَن لَّمۡ يَسۡتَطِعۡ فَإِطۡعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسۡكِينٗاۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۚ وَتِلۡكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِۗ وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
4. If one cannot find (a slave to set free), he must fast for two months successively before they touch each other⁶. If one is not able (to fast), he must feed sixty destitute people. This is to affirm that you have complete faith in Allah and His messenger. These are Allah’s Laws and set limits. And for the deniers there is a painful Torment.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ كُبِتُواْ كَمَا كُبِتَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ وَقَدۡ أَنزَلۡنَآ ءَايَٰتِۭ بَيِّنَٰتٖۚ وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ
5. Those who oppose Allah (God) and His messenger will be disgraced as those before them (who opposed their messengers) were disgraced. We have sent down clear Verses. (Know that) the deniers shall have a humiliating Torment.
التفاسير العربية:
يَوۡمَ يَبۡعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعٗا فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوٓاْۚ أَحۡصَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ
6. On the Day when Allah will raise them all up (from the dead), then inform them of what they did (in this worldly life). Allah has recorded it while they have forgotten it. Allah is ever a Witness over all things.
التفاسير العربية:
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ مَا يَكُونُ مِن نَّجۡوَىٰ ثَلَٰثَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ رَابِعُهُمۡ وَلَا خَمۡسَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ سَادِسُهُمۡ وَلَآ أَدۡنَىٰ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكۡثَرَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَعَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كَانُواْۖ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُواْ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٌ
7. Have you not considered that Allah knows all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth? No where is there a secret counsel between three but He is the fourth of them, nor (between) five but He is the sixth of them, nor less than that, nor more but He is with them wheresoever they may be⁷. On the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did (in their entire lives). Allah is the Knower of everything.
7. by His Knowledge and Power

أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نُهُواْ عَنِ ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُواْ عَنۡهُ وَيَتَنَٰجَوۡنَ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ وَمَعۡصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِۖ وَإِذَا جَآءُوكَ حَيَّوۡكَ بِمَا لَمۡ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَوۡلَا يُعَذِّبُنَا ٱللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُۚ حَسۡبُهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُ يَصۡلَوۡنَهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
8. Have you not seen those who were forbidden from holding secret counsels (of conspiracy), then they return to what they were forbidden, conspiring in sin, hostility and disobedience to the messenger? When they come to you, they greet you with that (word) by which Allah does not greet you with, and say within themselves: "Why does not Allah chastise us for what we say⁸?" Gehinnom (Hell) is enough for them; they will enter it. What a terrible destination.
8. If he is a true prophet.
التفاسير العربية:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا تَنَٰجَيۡتُمۡ فَلَا تَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ وَمَعۡصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ
9. Believers, when you hold a secret counsel, let it not be for a sin, hostility, or to disobey the Messenger, but let it be for virtue and piety. And fear Allah, to Whom you shall be (all) gathered together.
التفاسير العربية:
إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ لِيَحۡزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَلَيۡسَ بِضَآرِّهِمۡ شَيۡـًٔا إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
10. Holding secret counsels (for evil purposes) is only (work) of Satan to cause grief to those who believe, but he can do no harm to them except by the will of Allah. On Allah (alone) let the believers place their complete trust.
التفاسير العربية:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمۡ تَفَسَّحُواْ فِي ٱلۡمَجَٰلِسِ فَٱفۡسَحُواْ يَفۡسَحِ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡۖ وَإِذَا قِيلَ ٱنشُزُواْ فَٱنشُزُواْ يَرۡفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ دَرَجَٰتٖۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٞ
11. Believers, when it is said to you: "Make room in (your) assemblies," then make ample room. Allah will give you ample room (from His mercy). When you are told: "Rise up (for a good deed)," then rise up. Allah will exalt by high degrees those of you who believe, and (above) all those who are given (right) knowledge (with sound faith and good deeds). Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
التفاسير العربية:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا نَٰجَيۡتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُواْ بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡ نَجۡوَىٰكُمۡ صَدَقَةٗۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡ وَأَطۡهَرُۚ فَإِن لَّمۡ تَجِدُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٌ
12. Believers, when you consult the Prophet, offer charity before your consultation. This will be better for you and more pure. But if you do not find anything (to offer as charity), then Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
التفاسير العربية:
ءَأَشۡفَقۡتُمۡ أَن تُقَدِّمُواْ بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡ نَجۡوَىٰكُمۡ صَدَقَٰتٖۚ فَإِذۡ لَمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَتَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ
13. Were you afraid that giving in charity before your consultation would make you poor? Since you did not offer such charity, and Allah has forgiven you, then keep up the prayer, pay the poor-rate, and obey Allah and His messenger. For Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
التفاسير العربية:
۞ أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوۡاْ قَوۡمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِم مَّا هُم مِّنكُمۡ وَلَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَيَحۡلِفُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡكَذِبِ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ
14. Have you not seen those (hypocrites) who take as a friends a people upon whom is the Wrath of Allah⁹? They are neither of you nor of them, and they (the hypocrites) swear falsely¹⁰ while they know (they are lying).

التفاسير العربية:
أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدًاۖ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

لَّن تُغۡنِيَ عَنۡهُمۡ أَمۡوَٰلُهُمۡ وَلَآ أَوۡلَٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـًٔاۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
17. Neither their wealth nor their children will benefit them anything against Allah. They are the people of the eternal Fire, therein they will abide.
التفاسير العربية:
يَوۡمَ يَبۡعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعٗا فَيَحۡلِفُونَ لَهُۥ كَمَا يَحۡلِفُونَ لَكُمۡ وَيَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمۡ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٍۚ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡكَٰذِبُونَ
18. On the Day when Allah (God) will raise them all (from the dead for Judgment), then they will swear to Him as they swear (now) to you (believers), thinking that they have a good case¹¹. But, they are the liars.
11. That their lies will be believed and that they will escape the punishment.
التفاسير العربية:
ٱسۡتَحۡوَذَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ فَأَنسَىٰهُمۡ ذِكۡرَ ٱللَّهِۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حِزۡبُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۚ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزۡبَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ
19. Satan has dominated them, and made them forget the Remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Satan, and the party of Satan are the real losers.

كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَغۡلِبَنَّ أَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِيٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٞ

لَّا تَجِدُ قَوۡمٗا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ يُوَآدُّونَ مَنۡ حَآدَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَوۡ كَانُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ أَوۡ أَبۡنَآءَهُمۡ أَوۡ إِخۡوَٰنَهُمۡ أَوۡ عَشِيرَتَهُمۡۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ كَتَبَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ وَأَيَّدَهُم بِرُوحٖ مِّنۡهُۖ وَيُدۡخِلُهُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ رَضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُواْ عَنۡهُۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حِزۡبُ ٱللَّهِۚ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزۡبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ
22. You will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who are fighting Allah (God)¹² and His messenger, even though they be their (own) fathers, sons, brothers, or kindred. It is they in whose hearts Allah has inscribed faith, and strengthened them with a spirit¹³ from Him. He will admit them to gardens under which rivers flow, abiding therein forever. Allah is well-pleased with them and they are well-pleased with Him. These are the Party of Allah. Know that it is the Party of Allah that will certainly be successful.
12. Allah has made a universe that reflects His existence and is built on His law, and a man is a fool to live against the law of God. For a man to live in war against his Creator is stupidity.
13. The divine guidance and influence over the Muslim to help and support him towards what is right and just. The holy spirit is the angel Gabriel.
