96 : 5

أُحِلَّ لَكُمۡ صَيۡدُ ٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَطَعَامُهُۥ مَتَٰعٗا لَّكُمۡ وَلِلسَّيَّارَةِۖ وَحُرِّمَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ صَيۡدُ ٱلۡبَرِّ مَا دُمۡتُمۡ حُرُمٗاۗ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ

96. Lawful to you is the game of the sea and sea food, a provision for you and the travellers. The game of the land is prohibited to you while you are in the state of consecration 'for major or lesser pilgrimage'. Fear Allāh to Whom you shall 'all' be gathered.

97 : 5

۞ جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡكَعۡبَةَ ٱلۡبَيۡتَ ٱلۡحَرَامَ قِيَٰمٗا لِّلنَّاسِ وَٱلشَّهۡرَ ٱلۡحَرَامَ وَٱلۡهَدۡيَ وَٱلۡقَلَٰٓئِدَۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتَعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٌ

97. Allāh has made the Ka'bah 'in Makkah' - the sacred house a bastion of security and benefits for the people ^[71], and also the sacred month, the offerings, and the sacrificial animals with garlands. This is that you may know that Allāh knows all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and that Allāh is the Knower of all things.

[71]. Qiyām traces its meaning to erectness and/or taking care of affairs. That God made the Kaʿbah qiyāman li al-nās signifies both their religious, e.g. Prayers, Hajj, ʿumrah, etc., and worldly affairs, e.g. trade in all sorts of produce, getting together and knowing each other, etc., are upheld and safeguarded in and around it.

98 : 5

ٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ

98. Know that Allāh is Severe in punishment, and that Allāh is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

99 : 5

مَّا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَٰغُۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ مَا تُبۡدُونَ وَمَا تَكۡتُمُونَ

99. Nothing is (incumbent) on the messenger (Muhammad) but to deliver 'the Message' clearly. Allāh knows what you reveal or conceal.

100 : 5

قُل لَّا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡخَبِيثُ وَٱلطَّيِّبُ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَكَ كَثۡرَةُ ٱلۡخَبِيثِۚ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ يَٰٓأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ

100. Say: "The filthy ^[72] and the pure ^[73] are not equal, though the abundance of filthy may impress you." So fear Allāh ^[74], O people of understanding, that you may succeed and prosper.

[72]. All that is bad as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, and foods.
[73]. All that is good as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, and foods.
[74]. Fear Allâh: i.e. abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden and love Allâh much by performing all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained.

101 : 5

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَسۡـَٔلُواْ عَنۡ أَشۡيَآءَ إِن تُبۡدَ لَكُمۡ تَسُؤۡكُمۡ وَإِن تَسۡـَٔلُواْ عَنۡهَا حِينَ يُنَزَّلُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ تُبۡدَ لَكُمۡ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهَاۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٞ

101. O believers, do not ask about things which if explained to you may displease you ^[75]. If you ask about such things when the Qur’an is being revealed, they will be explained to you. Allāh has pardoned that (which is past). Allāh is All-Forgiving; Most Forebearing.

[75]. I.e., especially contrived questions, if responded to will widen the circle of divine ordinances, which might cause difficulty for the believers to act on them.

102 : 5

قَدۡ سَأَلَهَا قَوۡمٞ مِّن قَبۡلِكُمۡ ثُمَّ أَصۡبَحُواْ بِهَا كَٰفِرِينَ

102. A people asked such (questions) before you; then they became thereby disbelievers ^[76].

[76]. By their rejection to carry out what they were commanded.

103 : 5

مَا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَحِيرَةٖ وَلَا سَآئِبَةٖ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٖ وَلَا حَامٖ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَۖ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ

103. Allāh has not appointed (such innovations as) Bahirah or Sa'ibah or Wasilah or Ham ^[77], but those who disbelieve (in the Truth) invent a lie against Allāh, and most of them do not understand.

[77]. Categories of particular animals which were dedicated to the idols and set free to pasture, liberated from the service of man.
