Ajet: 53

وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَقۡسَمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ جَهۡدَ أَيۡمَٰنِهِمۡ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمَعَكُمۡۚ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ فَأَصۡبَحُواْ خَٰسِرِينَ

53. Those who believe will say (about the hypocrites after their exposure): Are these the ones who swore by Allah (God) with their strongest oaths that they were with you? Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers49.

49. These hypocrites, honoring God with their lips while their hearts are far from Him. They worship God in vain, He avers, since they have abandoned “the commandment of God and hold in its place the tradition of men. Besides earning the Anger of God and having their thin cover blown, all what they bargained for and threw their weight behind came to nothing. Thus, the immensity of their loss.
