Translation of the meanings Ayah: (134) Surah: An-Nisā’
(134) Whoever seeks the reward of this worldly life, then ˹know that˺ with Allah is ˹both˺ the reward of this worldly life and the Hereafter[1020]—verily Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
[1020] People who are heedless of God are too eager to gain that which is worldly and think not of the life to come. Here, God reminds them that it is with Him that the wins and gains of not only this worldly life but also that of the Hereafter lie. All the more reason, then, for them to pay Him heed (cf. Ibn ʿĀshūr). “Some people would say: “Our Lord give us in this worldly life”, having no share in the Hereafter; *˹yet˺ some of them say: “Our Lord, give us what is good in this worldly life and what is good in the Hereafter, and spare us the Punishment of the Fire”. *Those are the ones who have a share of what they earned; surely Allah is swift in reckoning.” (2: 200-202)
