Ad-Duhā

1 : 93

وَٱلضُّحَىٰ

1. (Consider) the morning sunlight ^[1],

[1]. God is swearing by the early hours of the day.

2 : 93

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ

2. And (by) the night as it darkens ^[2].

[2]. There is light at the end of the tunnel and with hardship is ease, like there is daybreak after the night.

3 : 93

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ

3. Your Lord has not forsaken you ^[3] nor is he displeased with you.

[3]. As the pagans said to you 'Muhammad' when the revelation paused for a while.

4 : 93

وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ

4. And the Hereafter life is better for you than the first (life of this world) ^[4].

[4]. Another meaning is: And what comes after is better for you than that which has gone before.

5 : 93

وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ

5. And Indeed, your Lord will soon give you (all good), so that you will be well pleased.

6 : 93

أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمٗا فَـَٔاوَىٰ

6. Did He not find you an orphan and has given you shelter ^[5]?

[5]. The religion of Islam which is the pure and undefiled religion before Allāh (God) encourages us to look after orphans and widows and to keep oneself unstained by the world. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"I and the believer who sponsors an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two, and he raised his index finger and the one next to it, holding them together, barely separate."

7 : 93

وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلّٗا فَهَدَىٰ

7. Did He not find you unguided then guide you?

8 : 93

وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلٗا فَأَغۡنَىٰ

8. And did He not find you poor, so He enriched (you)?

9 : 93

فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ

9. So, as for the orphan - do not subdue (him) ^[6].

[6]. A man came to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), lamenting his hardness of heart. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: "If you want to soften your heart, feed the poor and pat the head of the orphan in tenderness.”

10 : 93

وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنۡهَرۡ

10. And as for the beggar ^[7] - do not repel (him),

[7]. Who ask for help or knowledge.The Qur’an clearly instructs believers to treat those who ask for help with kindness and generosity, emphasizing the principle of giving to those in need without turning away. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. 

11 : 93

وَأَمَّا بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثۡ

11. And as for the Favor of your Lord (Allāh) ^[8], proclaim it.

[8]. I.e., The Prophethood, the Qur'an, and your perfect religion of Islam.
