Firo maanaaji Aaya: (127) Simoore: Simoore koreeji imraan
(127) ˹This was so˺ To fell a flank[685] of those who Deny and to smite[686] them, so that they would draw back crestfallen.
[685] An image that depicts a number of them being struck down.
[686] Yakbita is a very strongly emotive word; to smite, to depress. Indeed, the whole aya employs words that are highly charged, standing out from other likely alternatives in Arabic. Any attempt at an equivalent rendition in English will inevitably fall short of what is ideally portrayed.
