Yūnus

Versetto: 1

الٓرۚ تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡحَكِيمِ

1. Alif Lam Ra¹. These are the Verses of the Wise Book2.

1. The Qur’an is made up of such letters from the Arabic alphabet. The Arabs at the time of revelation were the unrivalled masters of the Arabic language and yet when challenged were totally unable to bring anything like the Qur’an. Despite this fact, the inimitable nature of the Qur’an and its divine source, God knows best the meaning of these disjointed Arabic letters.
2. I.e., the Qur’an, whose verses are full of wisdom, fair rulings and guidance to the Right Path.

Versetto: 2

أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنۡ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنۡ أَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ قَدَمَ صِدۡقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡۗ قَالَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٞ مُّبِينٌ

2. Is it a wonder to the people that We revealed to a man (Muhammad) from among themselves, saying: "Warn the people (from the Chastisement) and give good news to those who believe that theirs is a sure position of honor with (Allah) their Lord." (But) the deniers say: "This (man) is certainly an obvious sorcerer.3"

3. They could only rationalize the bewildering effect of the Message by saying that it bewitches people.

Versetto: 3

إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ يُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَۖ مَا مِن شَفِيعٍ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ إِذۡنِهِۦۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

3. Your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days then rose over the Throne, governing the affairs of His creation. No one can intercede for others except after His Permission. This is Allah, your Sovereign Lord, so worship Him (alone). Will you not then take heed?

Versetto: 4

إِلَيۡهِ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ جَمِيعٗاۖ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّاۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ لِيَجۡزِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَهُمۡ شَرَابٞ مِّنۡ حَمِيمٖ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِيمُۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡفُرُونَ

4. To Him is your (final) return all together - Allah’s Promise is always true. It is He Who creates all things (and after their death), brings them to life again, so that He may justly reward those who believe and do good deeds. But for those who deny (the Truth), for them is a drink of scalding hot water and a painful torment, for their (persistent) denying.

Versetto: 5

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ ضِيَآءٗ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ نُورٗا وَقَدَّرَهُۥ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعۡلَمُواْ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلۡحِسَابَۚ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ذَٰلِكَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ يُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ لِقَوۡمٖ يَعۡلَمُونَ

5. It is He (Allah) Who made the sun radiant and the moon luminous, and appointed for the moon certain phases so that you may know the computation of years and the reckoning (of time). Allah did not create it except for a genuine purpose. He makes the signs clear for a people who have knowledge.

Versetto: 6

إِنَّ فِي ٱخۡتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَتَّقُونَ

6. The alternation of the night and day, and all that Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, there are signs for a people who fear Allah and shun evil.

Versetto: 7

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا وَرَضُواْ بِٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱطۡمَأَنُّواْ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا غَٰفِلُونَ

7. Those who do not hope in Our meeting, and are pleased with this worldly life, and content with it, and who pay no attention to Our revelations:

Versetto: 8

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ

8. These, their ultimate abode will be the Hellfire, for what they used to earn (of evil).

Versetto: 9

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ يَهۡدِيهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِإِيمَٰنِهِمۡۖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ فِي جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

9. Those who believe and do righteous deeds, their Lord (Allah) will guide them by their Faith; there shall flow under them rivers, in gardens of bliss.

Versetto: 10

دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ فِيهَا سُبۡحَٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِيَّتُهُمۡ فِيهَا سَلَٰمٞۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ أَنِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

10. Their prayer therein is: "Glory (and Honor) be to You, O Allah," and their greeting therein is: "Peace be with you;" and the concluding of their prayer is: "All praise be to Allah, the Sovereign Lord of all beings."

Versetto: 11

۞ وَلَوۡ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسۡتِعۡجَالَهُم بِٱلۡخَيۡرِ لَقُضِيَ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا فِي طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ

11. If Allah were to hasten to the people the evil (they invoke)4 just as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been already ended, but We 'give respite' and leave those who hope not for Our Meeting in their transgression, blindly wandering on.

4. In anger or in heedlessness.

Versetto: 12

وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوۡ قَاعِدًا أَوۡ قَآئِمٗا فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَدۡعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرّٖ مَّسَّهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

12. When man is touched by hardship, he starts to pray while lying on his side, sitting or standing; but when We relieve him from hardship, he moves on as though he had never prayed to Us for the illness that touched him. Thus that which they do is made fair-seeming to the transgressors.

Versetto: 13

وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡقُرُونَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَمَّا ظَلَمُواْ وَجَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ وَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُؤۡمِنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ

13. We destroyed generations before you when they (persistently) commited iniquity and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they would not believe. Thus do We recompense the wicked people.

Versetto: 14

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰكُمۡ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لِنَنظُرَ كَيۡفَ تَعۡمَلُونَ

14.Then We made you (people) successors in the land after them, so that We may see how you act.

Versetto: 15

وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا ٱئۡتِ بِقُرۡءَانٍ غَيۡرِ هَٰذَآ أَوۡ بَدِّلۡهُۚ قُلۡ مَا يَكُونُ لِيٓ أَنۡ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلۡقَآيِٕ نَفۡسِيٓۖ إِنۡ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيَّۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ إِنۡ عَصَيۡتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ

15. When Our clear Verses are recited to them, those who hope not for Our Meeting say: "Bring a Qur’an other than this or change it." Say: "It is not (proper) for me to change it of myself; I only follow that which is revealed to me. I fear, if I disobey (Allah) my Lord, the torment of a Grievous Day."

Versetto: 16

قُل لَّوۡ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَلَوۡتُهُۥ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَلَآ أَدۡرَىٰكُم بِهِۦۖ فَقَدۡ لَبِثۡتُ فِيكُمۡ عُمُرٗا مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦٓۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ

16. Say 'Muhammad', "If Allah had willed (otherwise) I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. I have stayed a lifetime among you before it5. Do you not then understand?

5. i.e., forty years before receiving any revelation

Versetto: 17

فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوۡ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

17. Who is then more unjust than the one who invents a lie against Allah or denies His signs? The wicked will not succeed.

Versetto: 18

وَيَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمۡ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمۡ وَيَقُولُونَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُفَعَٰٓؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَتُنَبِّـُٔونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا يَعۡلَمُ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ

18. They worship besides Allah what can neither harm them nor benefit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say: "Do you (presume to) inform Allah of what He knows not in the heavens and the earth?" Glory be to Him, and exalted be He above all that which they associate (with Him as partners).

Versetto: 19

وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّآ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ فَٱخۡتَلَفُواْۚ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ فِيمَا فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ

19. Mankind were but a single nation6, then they differed. Had not a Word (to give every one respite and free will) been decreed from (Allah) your Lord, the matter would have been decided between them about what they differed.

6. On one religion - Islamic Monotheism

Versetto: 20

وَيَقُولُونَ لَوۡلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۖ فَقُلۡ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡغَيۡبُ لِلَّهِ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓاْ إِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُنتَظِرِينَ

20. They (deniers) say: "Why is not a miracle sent to him from his Lord (Allah)7?" Say: "The (knowledge of the) unseen is only for Allah. So wait, I am with you among those who wait."

7. To support his claim of being His messenger.

Versetto: 21

وَإِذَآ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحۡمَةٗ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتۡهُمۡ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكۡرٞ فِيٓ ءَايَاتِنَاۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَسۡرَعُ مَكۡرًاۚ إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا يَكۡتُبُونَ مَا تَمۡكُرُونَ

21. When people (i.e., the deniers) are granted mercy after having suffered adversity, they begin to plot against Our verses. Say: "Allah is the Most Swift in His plans." Our (angelic) messengers record all that you plot.

Versetto: 22

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُسَيِّرُكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا كُنتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَجَرَيۡنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٖ طَيِّبَةٖ وَفَرِحُواْ بِهَا جَآءَتۡهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٞ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٖ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ أُحِيطَ بِهِمۡ دَعَوُاْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ لَئِنۡ أَنجَيۡتَنَا مِنۡ هَٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

22. It is He (Allah) Who enables you to travel on land and sea; until when you are in the ships and they sail on with them in a pleasant breeze and they rejoice in it, 'suddenly' a violent wind comes, and the waves come to them from all sides, and they become certain that they are encompassed; they pray to Allah, being sincere to Him in devotion (saying): "If You deliver us from this, we will certainly be of the grateful ones."

Versetto: 23

فَلَمَّآ أَنجَىٰهُمۡ إِذَا هُمۡ يَبۡغُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّۗ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغۡيُكُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمۖ مَّتَٰعَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيۡنَا مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

23. But when He delivers them, they rebel in the earth unjustly. People, Your rebellion is against your own selves; a brief enjoyment of this worldly life, then to Us (Allah) is your return, so We shall inform you of what you used to do.

Versetto: 24

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخۡتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِمَّا يَأۡكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمُ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ زُخۡرُفَهَا وَٱزَّيَّنَتۡ وَظَنَّ أَهۡلُهَآ أَنَّهُمۡ قَٰدِرُونَ عَلَيۡهَآ أَتَىٰهَآ أَمۡرُنَا لَيۡلًا أَوۡ نَهَارٗا فَجَعَلۡنَٰهَا حَصِيدٗا كَأَن لَّمۡ تَغۡنَ بِٱلۡأَمۡسِۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ لِقَوۡمٖ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

24. The likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We (Allah) send down from the sky, so it brings forth the intermingled vegetation of the earth of which men and cattle eat; until, when the earth has taken on its adornment and is beautified, and its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday. Thus do We explain the signs in detail for the people who reflect (and realise the Truth).

Versetto: 25

وَٱللَّهُ يَدۡعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ دَارِ ٱلسَّلَٰمِ وَيَهۡدِي مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ

25. Allah invites to the Home of Peace (Paradise), and guides whomever He wills to a straight Path (the religion of Islam).

Versetto: 26

۞ لِّلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٞۖ وَلَا يَرۡهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمۡ قَتَرٞ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

26. For those who do good is the best reward (Paradise) and more8, neither darkness nor dust will cover their faces. These are the people of Paradise, they will abide therein forever.

8. Seeing the Honorable Face of Allah. In that joy-filled moment when we see Allah and know Him as He knows each of us, the Muslims. He will infuse us with the faith, hope, and love we need to stand firm, until we gaze at our Loving and Living God - Allah. He is exalted, forever exalted, the King is the incomparable Highest in all His Attributes and we will praise Him. Allah is our Lord and forever His truth shall reign. Heaven and earth rejoice in His great Name.

Versetto: 27

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَسَبُواْ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ جَزَآءُ سَيِّئَةِۭ بِمِثۡلِهَا وَتَرۡهَقُهُمۡ ذِلَّةٞۖ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ عَاصِمٖۖ كَأَنَّمَآ أُغۡشِيَتۡ وُجُوهُهُمۡ قِطَعٗا مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ مُظۡلِمًاۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

27. But those who have earned evil deeds, the recompense of an evil deed is the like of it, and a humiliating disgrace will come upon them (the pagans and deniers) - they will have none to protect them from Allah - as if their faces had been covered by the pitch-darkness of night. These are the people of the Hellfire. They will abide therein forever.

Versetto: 28

وَيَوۡمَ نَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِيعٗا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشۡرَكُواْ مَكَانَكُمۡ أَنتُمۡ وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمۡۚ فَزَيَّلۡنَا بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَآؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ إِيَّانَا تَعۡبُدُونَ

28. On the Day when We gather them all together, then will say to the pagans: "Stay where you are, you and your idols." Then We will separate them (from their idols), and their idols will say: "Never were you worshipping us."

Versetto: 29

فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدَۢا بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ إِن كُنَّا عَنۡ عِبَادَتِكُمۡ لَغَٰفِلِينَ

29. Allah (God) is Enough as a Witness between us and you that we were totally unaware of your worshiping (us).

Versetto: 30

هُنَالِكَ تَبۡلُواْ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ مَّآ أَسۡلَفَتۡۚ وَرُدُّوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوۡلَىٰهُمُ ٱلۡحَقِّۖ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفۡتَرُونَ

30. There, (on that Day), every soul will experience the results of all that it had done. They will be brought back to Allah, their True Patron, and what they invented (of falsehood) will vanish from them.

Versetto: 31

قُلۡ مَن يَرۡزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمَّن يَمۡلِكُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَمَن يُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡحَيَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَيِّتِ وَيُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡمَيِّتَ مِنَ ٱلۡحَيِّ وَمَن يُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَۚ فَسَيَقُولُونَ ٱللَّهُۚ فَقُلۡ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

31. Say: "Who gives you sustenance from the heaven and the earth, who possesses (your) hearing and sights, who brings the living out of the dead, and the dead out of the living, and who rules and regulates (the whole universe)? They will say: "Allah." So say: "Will you not fear Allah and shun evil?" 

Versetto: 32

فَذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَاذَا بَعۡدَ ٱلۡحَقِّ إِلَّا ٱلضَّلَٰلُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصۡرَفُونَ

32. Such is Allah, your True Lord. What is beyond the Truth except falsehood? How are you then turned away?

Versetto: 33

كَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ

33. Thus does the Word of (Allah) your Lord prove true against those who rebel (against Allah) - that they will not believe.

Versetto: 34

قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَبۡدَؤُاْ ٱلۡخَلۡقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ

34. Say: "Can any of your associates (or idols) create something, (cause it to die), and then bring it back to life again?" Say: "Only Allah can originate the creation and bring it to life again." How are you then turned away?

Versetto: 35

قُلۡ هَلۡ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَهۡدِيٓ إِلَى ٱلۡحَقِّۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَهۡدِي لِلۡحَقِّۗ أَفَمَن يَهۡدِيٓ إِلَى ٱلۡحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَن يُتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لَّا يَهِدِّيٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُهۡدَىٰۖ فَمَا لَكُمۡ كَيۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ

35. Say: "Can any of your associates (or idols) guide you to the Truth? Say: "Only Allah guides to the truth." Is He then Who guides to the Truth more worthy to be followed, or he who is not himself guided, unless he is guided (by others)? What is wrong with you that you judge (so unjustly)?

Versetto: 36

وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ إِلَّا ظَنًّاۚ إِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ شَيۡـًٔاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمُۢ بِمَا يَفۡعَلُونَ

36. Most of the unbelievers follow only conjecture. However, conjecture avails nothing against the Truth at all. Allah is All-Knowing of what they do.

Versetto: 37

وَمَا كَانَ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ أَن يُفۡتَرَىٰ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَٰكِن تَصۡدِيقَ ٱلَّذِي بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ وَتَفۡصِيلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

37. This Qur’an is not such as could be produced by other than Allah (God), but it is a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of the (past) Scripture; there is no doubt in it, (it is) from (Allah) the Sovereign Lord of all beings.

Versetto: 38

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ فَأۡتُواْ بِسُورَةٖ مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُواْ مَنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

38. Or do they say: "He has invented it (this Qur’an)?" Say: "Then bring one Chapter like it, and call upon whomever you can other than Allah, if you are truthful."

Versetto: 39

بَلۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِمَا لَمۡ يُحِيطُواْ بِعِلۡمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأۡتِهِمۡ تَأۡوِيلُهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

39. Rather, they deny that of which they have no comprehensive knowledge and whose interpretation has not yet been revealed. Thus did those before them deny (the Truth). See then how was the end of the unjust.

Versetto: 40

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِهِۦۚ وَرَبُّكَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ

40. Among them are those who (will in time) believe in it (the Qur’an), and among them are those who do not believe in it, and your Lord knows best the corrupters.

Versetto: 41

وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّي عَمَلِي وَلَكُمۡ عَمَلُكُمۡۖ أَنتُم بَرِيٓـُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعۡمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ

41. If they deny you (Muhammad), say: "My deeds is for me and your deeds for you. You are not responsible for what I do, nor am I responsible for what you do."

Versetto: 42

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَسۡتَمِعُونَ إِلَيۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسۡمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ

42. Among them are those who (pretend to) listen to you, but can you make the deaf hear, though they will not heed?

Versetto: 43

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيۡكَۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهۡدِي ٱلۡعُمۡيَ وَلَوۡ كَانُواْ لَا يُبۡصِرُونَ

43. Among them are those who (pretend to) look at you, but can you show the right way to the blind, though they do not see?

Versetto: 44

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظۡلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمۡ يَظۡلِمُونَ

44. Allah does not do any injustice to the people, but the people are unjust to themselves (by disobeying their Creator).

Versetto: 45

وَيَوۡمَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ قَدۡ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهۡتَدِينَ

45. On the Day when He will resurrect them it will seem to them as though they had not stayed (in this world) but an hour of the day, they will recognise each other. Those who denied the Meeting with Allah will be losers, for they did not follow (the right) guidance.

Versetto: 46

وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ

46. Whether We show you (Muhammad) something of what We threaten them with, or cause you to die9, to Us is their (final) return. (Know that) Allah is the Bearer of Witness to (all) what they do.

9. They will not be able to escape Our Punishment.

Versetto: 47

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٖ رَّسُولٞۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمۡ قُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ

47. For every nation there is a Messenger. When their Messenger comes, the matter will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be dealt with unjustly.10

10. By his coming, Truth stands out clear from error: Those who believe are saved but those who deny are doomed.

Versetto: 48

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلۡوَعۡدُ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

48. They say: "When will this threat11 come about, if you speak the truth?"

11. I.e., their due punishment in this life or the coming of the Hour of Doom.

Versetto: 49

قُل لَّآ أَمۡلِكُ لِنَفۡسِي ضَرّٗا وَلَا نَفۡعًا إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌۚ إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةٗ وَلَا يَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ

49. Say: "I do not control for myself any harm or any benefit, except what Allah wills." Every nation has a term. And when their term comes, they will not then remain behind for an hour, nor can they go before (their time).

Versetto: 50

قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَٰتًا أَوۡ نَهَارٗا مَّاذَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

50. Say: "Tell me if His Chastisement seizes you by night or by day. What then is there of it that the wicked would hasten on?"

Versetto: 51

أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦٓۚ ءَآلۡـَٰٔنَ وَقَدۡ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ

51. Will you believe in it only after it befalls you? What! Now (you believe), and already you wished to have it hastened on.

Versetto: 52

ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ هَلۡ تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡسِبُونَ

52. Then it will be said to those who worked iniquity:  "Taste the abiding torment; you are only recompensed for what you used to earn (of sins)."

Versetto: 53

۞ وَيَسۡتَنۢبِـُٔونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَۖ قُلۡ إِي وَرَبِّيٓ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقّٞۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِينَ

53. They ask you: "Is that true?" Say: "Yes, By (Allah) my Lord. It is certainly the Truth, and you cannot escape."

Versetto: 54

وَلَوۡ أَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفۡسٖ ظَلَمَتۡ مَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَٱفۡتَدَتۡ بِهِۦۗ وَأَسَرُّواْ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَۖ وَقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُم بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ

54. If every soul that has done iniquity12, had all that is in the earth, it would offer it for ransom, and they will bear regret when they see the torment, and the matter will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be dealt with unjustly.

12. By worshiping others besides Allah and dying as such without repenting.

Versetto: 55

أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

55. To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Allah’s Promise is true, but most of them do not know.

Versetto: 56

هُوَ يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ

56. He gives life and causes death, and to Him you shall (all) be returned.

Versetto: 57

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَتۡكُم مَّوۡعِظَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَشِفَآءٞ لِّمَا فِي ٱلصُّدُورِ وَهُدٗى وَرَحۡمَةٞ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

57. People, there has come to you an admonition from (Allah) your Lord and a healing for what is in the chests and a guidance and a mercy for the believers.

Versetto: 58

قُلۡ بِفَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِرَحۡمَتِهِۦ فَبِذَٰلِكَ فَلۡيَفۡرَحُواْ هُوَ خَيۡرٞ مِّمَّا يَجۡمَعُونَ

58. Say: "In the Bounty of Allah (i.e., the Islamic Faith) and in His mercy (the Qur’an) - in that they should rejoice13; it is better than all (the worldly pleasures and wealth) that they amass14."

13. The source of true and lasting joy is from Allah and by following His last and final messenger, prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. It enables us to shine Allah’s light as we strive to bring joy to others, a joy that offers hope and strength to face trials.
14. Believers always need to remember Allah’s great bounty by which He guided them to Islam and gave them the gift of the Qur’an to which any worldly gain is not even remotely comparable. When the righteous prosper the city rejoices. When those who truly live by Islamic faith begin to influence a community, then this signals good news because it means Allah’s justice is taking hold. Greed diminishes. The poor find support. The oppressed are protected. Whenever Islam flourishes, then there’s joy and blessing in the city.

Versetto: 59

قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزۡقٖ فَجَعَلۡتُم مِّنۡهُ حَرَامٗا وَحَلَٰلٗا قُلۡ ءَآللَّهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمۡۖ أَمۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَفۡتَرُونَ

59. Say (to the pagans): "Tell me what Allah has sent down for you of sustenance, then you make (a part) of it unlawful and (a part) lawful." Say: "Has Allah commanded you, or do you invent against Allah a lie?"

Versetto: 60

وَمَا ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ

60. What will be the thought of those who invent lies against Allah (God) on the Day of Resurrection? Allah is Bountiful towards the people, but most of them do not give thanks.

Versetto: 61

وَمَا تَكُونُ فِي شَأۡنٖ وَمَا تَتۡلُواْ مِنۡهُ مِن قُرۡءَانٖ وَلَا تَعۡمَلُونَ مِنۡ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَيۡكُمۡ شُهُودًا إِذۡ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِۚ وَمَا يَعۡزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثۡقَالِ ذَرَّةٖ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَلَآ أَصۡغَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكۡبَرَ إِلَّا فِي كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٍ

61. No matter You may engaged in, nor do you recite any portion of the Qur’an, nor do you do any work, but We are Witnesses over you when you enter into it. Nothing is hidden from (Allah) your Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom in the earth or in the heaven, nor any thing less than that nor greater, but it is all in a clear Record.

Versetto: 62

أَلَآ إِنَّ أَوۡلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ

62. The allies of Allah shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve15;

15. So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and Allah knows that you need them. But seek first His Kingdom by keeping to His Commandments and avoiding evil, and all these things will be given to you as well through your efforts.

Versetto: 63

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَ

63. They are those who believe (in the Oneness of God) and keep to His Commandments -

Versetto: 64

لَهُمُ ٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَفِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ لَا تَبۡدِيلَ لِكَلِمَٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ

64. For them are good news (of happiness) in this worldly life and in the Hereafter (Paradise). There is no changing in the Words of Allah (God). That is the supreme triumph.

Versetto: 65

وَلَا يَحۡزُنكَ قَوۡلُهُمۡۘ إِنَّ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًاۚ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ

65. Let not their (the deniers’) speech grieve you. All Honor (and Power) belong to Allah. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Versetto: 66

أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُرَكَآءَۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا يَخۡرُصُونَ

66. To Allah belongs whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is in the earth. Those who invoke others besides Allah, they do not (really) follow (these so-called) partners (they ascribe to Allah or idols); they follow only conjectures, and they are only guessing.

Versetto: 67

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيۡلَ لِتَسۡكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًاۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَسۡمَعُونَ

67. It is He (Allah) Who has made for you the night (dark) that you may rest therein, and the day bright. There are Signs in this for a people who listen.

Versetto: 68

قَالُواْ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدٗاۗ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥۖ هُوَ ٱلۡغَنِيُّۖ لَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِنۡ عِندَكُم مِّن سُلۡطَٰنِۭ بِهَٰذَآۚ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ

68. They say: "Allah has taken for Himself a son." Glorified and Exalted is He above this; He is the Rich (free of all needs): To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. You have no evidence for this (claim that Allah has a son). Do you say against Allah what you do not know?

Versetto: 69

قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ لَا يُفۡلِحُونَ

69. Say: "Those who invent a lie against Allah (God) will not succeed."

Versetto: 70

مَتَٰعٞ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا ثُمَّ إِلَيۡنَا مَرۡجِعُهُمۡ ثُمَّ نُذِيقُهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلشَّدِيدَ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡفُرُونَ

70. (It is only) a brief enjoyment in this world, then to Us (Allah) will be their (final) return; then We shall make them taste the severest torment, for their (persistent) denying (of the Truth).

Versetto: 71

۞ وَٱتۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ نُوحٍ إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيۡكُم مَّقَامِي وَتَذۡكِيرِي بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُ فَأَجۡمِعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَكُمۡ وَشُرَكَآءَكُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُنۡ أَمۡرُكُمۡ عَلَيۡكُمۡ غُمَّةٗ ثُمَّ ٱقۡضُوٓاْ إِلَيَّ وَلَا تُنظِرُونِ

71. Recite to them the story of Noah, when he said to his people: "My people, if my stay and my reminding (you) of the Revelation of Allah is hard on you - then (know that) on Allah (alone) do I rely. Unite yourselves and seek help from your (helpless) associate-gods (and idols). Then let not your plot be obscure to you, then carry it out against me, and give me no respite."

Versetto: 72

فَإِن تَوَلَّيۡتُمۡ فَمَا سَأَلۡتُكُم مِّنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ

72. If you turn away (from my advice), I have not asked for any reward from you. My reward is only with Allah, and I am commanded to be of the Muslims.

Versetto: 73

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِي ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ خَلَٰٓئِفَ وَأَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاۖ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ

73. But they rejected him, so We delivered him and those with him in the Ship, and We made them successors and drowned those who rejected Our revelations. See then what was the end of the (people) who were warned (and did not pay heed).

Versetto: 74

ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِمۡ فَجَآءُوهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُؤۡمِنُواْ بِمَا كَذَّبُواْ بِهِۦ مِن قَبۡلُۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَطۡبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُعۡتَدِينَ

74. Then We sent after him messengers to their people, and they came to them with clear proofs, but they would not believe in what they had rejected before; thus We set seals upon the hearts of the transgressors.

Versetto: 75

ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا مُّجۡرِمِينَ

75. Then after them, We sent Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his council with Our signs, but they also showed arrogance and they were wicked people.

Versetto: 76

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ

76. So when the Truth came to them from (Allah), they said: "This is a clear magic."

Versetto: 77

قَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَكُمۡۖ أَسِحۡرٌ هَٰذَا وَلَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلسَّٰحِرُونَ

77. Moses said: "Do you say (this) of the Truth when it has come to you? Is it magic? And the magicians will never prosper."

Versetto: 78

قَالُوٓاْ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتَلۡفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ءَابَآءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلۡكِبۡرِيَآءُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ

78. They said: "Have you come to us to turn us away from what we found our fathers upon, and (that) greatness in the land should be for you two (Moses and Aaron)? But we are not believers in you." 

Versetto: 79

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ٱئۡتُونِي بِكُلِّ سَٰحِرٍ عَلِيمٖ

79. And Pharaoh said: "Bring to me every skillful magician."

Versetto: 80

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلۡقُواْ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ

80. When the magicians came, Moses said to them:"Cast down what you have to cast."

Versetto: 81

فَلَمَّآ أَلۡقَوۡاْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ مَا جِئۡتُم بِهِ ٱلسِّحۡرُۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَيُبۡطِلُهُۥٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُصۡلِحُ عَمَلَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ

81. So when they cast down, Moses said to them: "What you have brought is magic; Allah will certainly make it vain. Allah does not set aright the work of the corrupters."

Versetto: 82

وَيُحِقُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

82. Allah confirms the Truth with His Words, even though the wicked hate it.

Versetto: 83

فَمَآ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰٓ إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٞ مِّن قَوۡمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوۡفٖ مِّن فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِمۡ أَن يَفۡتِنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّ فِرۡعَوۡنَ لَعَالٖ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ

83. But none believed in Moses except the offspring (i.e., youths) of his people, for fear of Pharaoh and their own chiefs, lest he should persecute them. Pharaoh was a (haughty) tyrant in the land, and he was indeed of the transgressors.

Versetto: 84

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ فَعَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلُوٓاْ إِن كُنتُم مُّسۡلِمِينَ

84. Moses said: "My people, if you believe in Allah, then rely on Him (alone)16 if you are Muslims."

16. Trust Allah. He is good, and so are His plans.

Versetto: 85

فَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

85. So they said: "On Allah (alone) do we rely: (O Allah) our Lord, do not subject us to the persecution of the oppressive people,

Versetto: 86

وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحۡمَتِكَ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

86. Deliver us by Your mercy from the denying people."

Versetto: 87

وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَن تَبَوَّءَا لِقَوۡمِكُمَا بِمِصۡرَ بُيُوتٗا وَٱجۡعَلُواْ بُيُوتَكُمۡ قِبۡلَةٗ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

87. We inspired to Moses and his brother (saying): "Designate (certain) houses for your people in Egypt, and make your houses (open for the people and) places of worship, and establish prayer, and give good news to the believers."

Versetto: 88

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيۡتَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِينَةٗ وَأَمۡوَٰلٗا فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِكَۖ رَبَّنَا ٱطۡمِسۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَٱشۡدُدۡ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَلَا يُؤۡمِنُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ

88. Moses said: "(O Allah) our Lord, You have given to Pharaoh and his council splendor and riches in this worldly life. Our Lord, they have gone far away from Your (right) path (and persisted in their stubbornness and denial): Our Lord, destroy their wealth and harden their hearts, so that they will not believe until they see the painful torment.

Versetto: 89

قَالَ قَدۡ أُجِيبَت دَّعۡوَتُكُمَا فَٱسۡتَقِيمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَآنِّ سَبِيلَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

89. (Allah) said: "The prayer of you both (i.e., Moses and Aaron) has indeed been accepted, so continue on the right course, and do not follow the path of those who have no knowledge."

Versetto: 90

۞ وَجَٰوَزۡنَا بِبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُمۡ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغۡيٗا وَعَدۡوًاۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَدۡرَكَهُ ٱلۡغَرَقُ قَالَ ءَامَنتُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَامَنَتۡ بِهِۦ بَنُوٓاْ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ

90. We made the children of Israel to pass through the sea, then Pharaoh and his soldiers followed them in rebellion and transgression; until when drowning overtook him, (Pharaoh) said: "I believe that there is no God (worthy of worship) except Him (Allah) in Whom the children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims."

Versetto: 91

ءَآلۡـَٰٔنَ وَقَدۡ عَصَيۡتَ قَبۡلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ

91. Now (you believe)! And indeed you disobeyed before, and you were of the corrupters.

Versetto: 92

فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنۡ خَلۡفَكَ ءَايَةٗۚ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرٗا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا لَغَٰفِلُونَ

92. So today We shall deliver your (dead) body, that you may be a sign to those after you, yet most of the people are heedless to Our signs.

Versetto: 93

وَلَقَدۡ بَوَّأۡنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدۡقٖ وَرَزَقۡنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ فَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفُواْ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقۡضِي بَيۡنَهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ

93. We settled the children of Israel in a goodly settlement, and We provided them with good things; and they differed not until the knowledge had come to them. (Allah) your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that in which they used to differ.

Versetto: 94

فَإِن كُنتَ فِي شَكّٖ مِّمَّآ أَنزَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ فَسۡـَٔلِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقۡرَءُونَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبۡلِكَۚ لَقَدۡ جَآءَكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُمۡتَرِينَ

94. So if you are in doubt about (these stories) that We have sent down to you17, then you may ask those who read the (past) Scripture before you; certainly the Truth has come to you from (Allah) your Lord, so be not of the doubters.

17. And that your name Muhammad is written in the Bible.

Versetto: 95

وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡخَٰسِرِينَ

95. Do not (ever) be of those who reject the revelations of Allah, (for) then you shall be of the losers.

Versetto: 96

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّتۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ

96. Those against whom Allah's Decree (of Torment) is justified will not believe,

Versetto: 97

وَلَوۡ جَآءَتۡهُمۡ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ

97. Even though every sign should come to them, until they witness the painful torment.

Versetto: 98

فَلَوۡلَا كَانَتۡ قَرۡيَةٌ ءَامَنَتۡ فَنَفَعَهَآ إِيمَٰنُهَآ إِلَّا قَوۡمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّآ ءَامَنُواْ كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخِزۡيِ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِينٖ

98. For alas, there has not been a (single) community that believed (in its entirety) and thereupon benefited by its belief except the people of Jonah. When they believed, We removed from them the torment of disgrace in this worldly life, and We gave them enjoyment (in the good of this life) till their appointed time.

Versetto: 99

وَلَوۡ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَأٓمَنَ مَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كُلُّهُمۡ جَمِيعًاۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُكۡرِهُ ٱلنَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ يَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ

99. Had (Allah) your Lord willed, all those who are in the earth would have believed, all of them. Will you then force people till they become believers?

Versetto: 100

وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفۡسٍ أَن تُؤۡمِنَ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَيَجۡعَلُ ٱلرِّجۡسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ

100. It is not for any soul to believe except by Allah’s Permission; and He will put disgust on those who are heedless.

Versetto: 101

قُلِ ٱنظُرُواْ مَاذَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَا تُغۡنِي ٱلۡأٓيَٰتُ وَٱلنُّذُرُ عَن قَوۡمٖ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ

101. Say: "Consider what is in the heavens and the earth; but Signs and warnings do not benefit people who will not believe (in Allah and His signs)."

Versetto: 102

فَهَلۡ يَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثۡلَ أَيَّامِ ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوۡاْ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓاْ إِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُنتَظِرِينَ

102. Do they then wait for (anything) but the like of the days of those who passed on before them? Say: "Wait then, I am too with you of those who wait."

Versetto: 103

ثُمَّ نُنَجِّي رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ حَقًّا عَلَيۡنَا نُنجِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

103. Then We will deliver Our messengers and those who believed (in the Truth) - for it is binding on Us (that) We deliver the believers.

Versetto: 104

قُلۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ مِّن دِينِي فَلَآ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَٰكِنۡ أَعۡبُدُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمۡۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

104. Say 'Muhammad': "People, if you are in doubt as to my religion, then (know that) I do not worship those whom you worship besides Allah, but I worship Allah (alone) Who causes you to die, and I am commanded to be of the believers.

Versetto: 105

وَأَنۡ أَقِمۡ وَجۡهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفٗا وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ

105. And (it is inspired to me): "Direct your face towards the (true) religion (of Islam) uprightly; and do not be of the pagans."

Versetto: 106

وَلَا تَدۡعُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَۖ فَإِن فَعَلۡتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذٗا مِّنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

106. Do not invoke besides Allah that which can neither benefit you nor harm you, for if you do, then you will certainly be of the unjust.

Versetto: 107

وَإِن يَمۡسَسۡكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرّٖ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَإِن يُرِدۡكَ بِخَيۡرٖ فَلَا رَآدَّ لِفَضۡلِهِۦۚ يُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

107. If Allah touches you with harm, then there is none to remove it except Him; and if He intends good for you, then there is none to repel His favor. He brings it to whom He wills of His slaves (of mankind and jinn) - for He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Versetto: 108

قُلۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ فَمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهۡتَدِي لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيۡهَاۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيۡكُم بِوَكِيلٖ

108. Say 'Muhammad': "People, indeed there has come to you the Truth from (Allah) your Lord. So whoever follows the right Path, he follows it only for the good of his own soul; and whoever goes astray, he goes astray only to his own harm; and I am not responsible over you.

Versetto: 109

وَٱتَّبِعۡ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ وَٱصۡبِرۡ حَتَّىٰ يَحۡكُمَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَهُوَ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡحَٰكِمِينَ

109. Follow what is revealed to you (Muhammad) and be patient until Allah passes His Judgment, for He is the Best of judges.
