58. (Recall) when We said: "Enter this town (Jerusalem), and eat from it a plenteous (food) wherever you wish, and enter the gate bowing 'with humility', and say, 'absolve us'. We shall forgive your sins and give more to the good-doers."
59. But those who were unjust changed it for a saying other than that which they had been told21, so We sent down on those who were unjust a plague from the sky for their obstinate disobedience.
21. To do and say, but they entered it dragging themselves on their rears, saying, ‘A grain in a hair, instead of 'forgive us of our sins’, mocking Allah’s command. So God punished them because of their disobedience to Him with a plague from the sky, by which seventy thousand of them died.
60. When Moses prayed for water for his people, so We said: "Strike the rock with your staff," so there gushed from it twelve springs. Each people knew its drinking place: "Eat and drink of Allah's provision, and do not act corruptly in the land making mischief."
61. (Recall) when you said: "O Moses, we will never indure patiently with only one kind of food, so ask (Allāh) your Lord for us to bring forth for us out of what the earth grows of its green herbs, its cucumbers, its garlic, its lentils and onions." 'Moses' said: "Would you exchange what is better for what is less?" Go to any town, so you will have what you ask for. Abasement and humiliation were brought down upon them, and they became deserving of God’s Wrath. This was so because they denied the revelations of Allāh, and killed the Prophets unjustly. This was so because they disobeyed and used to transgress.
