[7]. The Straight Path in Islam is one that is free from all extremes and excesses.
It represents pure Islamic Monotheism — guidance for all humankind — showing what is lawful and unlawful, good and evil.
Whoever accepts this guidance does so for his own benefit, and whoever turns away does so only to his own loss and ruin.
[8]. The deviant paths refer to those systems and beliefs that have strayed from true monotheism, such as paganism, Judaism, and Christianity, which altered or deviated from the original message of their prophets.
