253. These Messengers: We favored some of them over others, among them were those to whom Allāh spoke [97], and some He raised in rank [i.e., Prophet Muhammad]. And to Jesus, son of Mary, We gave clear signs and strengthened him with the holy spirit (Gabriel). Had Allāh willed, those who came after them would not have fought one with another after clear proofs had come to them, but they differed - some believed while others denied (the Truth). And had Allāh willed, they would not have (disagreed and) fought one another - but Allāh does whatever He intends. info

[97]. I.e., Moses.

254 : 2

254. O believers, spend (in charity) out of what We have provided for you before there comes a Day when there will be no trading, no friendship, and no intercession. And it is the disbelievers who are the wrongdoers. info

255 : 2

255. Allāh - there is no god except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what lies before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His Knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi (Footstool) extends over the heavens and the earth [98], and preserving them does not tire Him not. He is the Most High, the Most Great. info

[98]. It is narrated that, "Between the first heaven and the one above it is (a distance of) five hundred years. Between each of the heavens is (a distance of) five hundred years. Between the seventh heaven and the Kursiy is (a distance of) five hundred years. Between the Kursiy and the water is (a distance of) five hundred years, and the Throne is above the water. Allāh is above the Throne, and nothing whatsoever of our deeds is hidden from Him." Muhammad, The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “The Kursiy in relation to the Throne is like an iron ring thrown out into the earth”.
It is also narrated that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “In Surah al-Baqarah there is a verse which is the best of all the verses of the Qur'an. It is never recited in a house but Satan leaves: Ayatul Kursi - the Verse of the Kursi - .”

256 : 2

256. There is no compulsion in [the acceptance of] religion [99]. The right path has already become clearly distinct from error. So whoever rejects false gods and believes in Allāh has indeed grasped the firmest handhold, which will never break. And Allāh is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. info

[99]. This is a great Islamic principle whereby no one is to be coerced to believe, but it is the duty of the believers to make sure that people know about Islam and what is right and what is wrong.
